Maya Hawke dazzles in sparkling black gown at the premiere of Asteroid City in New York

Maya Hawke was the beauty of the prom as she took to the red carpet at the premiere of her latest film, Asteroid City, at Alice Tully Hall in New York City on Tuesday.

The daughter of stars Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, 24, sparkled in a sparkly black ball gown that she paired with a matching headpiece with a chinstrap.

The actress – who oozed vintage glamor at the Cannes Film Festival last month – paired the glamorous look with classy black pointed-toe heels.

The Stranger Things star opted for a pop of color when it came to her glamour, with baby blue eyeshadow.

Other stars at the event included Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson, Bryan Cranston and Adrien Brody and Georgina Chapman.

Maya – who plays June Douglas in the Wes Anderson movie – also had a friendly interaction with co-star Scarlett, 38, at the event. The two were pictured having a brief conversation.

Scarlett was once the blonde bombshell in an angelic form-fitting white halter-neck dress that showed off her hourglass curves.

The beauty wore her blonde locks in loose Marilyn Monroe locks for a night.

Maya was also spotted mingling with Rita, 66, who was stunned in a black silk suit.

Also starring Johansson, Jason Schwartzman and Hanks, Asteroid City is set in the 1950s in a fictional American desert town that has an eerie feel.

At a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention designed to unite students and parents in scientific competition, things go haywire when a world event takes place.

Asteroid City premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on May 23, 2023.

It is scheduled for a limited release in New York City and Los Angeles on June 16, 2023, for a wider release on June 23, 2023.

Last year, Maya was one of several famous celebrity children criticized and mocked on the cover of New York Magazine’s The Year of the Nepo Baby.

With the help and connections of her famous parents – who separated in 2005 – Maya first started her career in entertainment by becoming a model.

She later made her film debut as Jo March in the 2017 BBC adaptation of Little Women.

She also starred in the hit Netflix drama series Stranger Things, playing Robin Buckley.

Although she has made a name for herself in the acting world, music has always been an important part of Maya’s life.

The singer-songwriter has released two well-received albums, Blush and last year, Moss.’

She recently opened for indie folk band The Bright Eyes at the Pabst Theatre.

The New York native was joined on stage by her musical partners – composer and multi-instrumentalist Benjamin Lazar Davis and guitarist Will Graefe.

In the summer of 2022, the Little Women actress spoke to As If Magazine about the inspiration behind her second album, which has an overall theme of ‘inner light’.

“Interestingly, I wasn’t aware of the theme until I finished it. I have lines about swallowing the moon and glowing in the dark – trying to express the importance of the light in you.

“So when I saw the art that was planned for the shoot, I knew I had to do this because it felt connected,” she explains.

She told As If that her father Ethan Hawke is a “great musician and music lover” and that he was the one who nurtured her knowledge of music.

Maya’s first album, Blush, was released in August 2020, in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. It contained 12 original tracks and is classified as part of the ‘folk rock’ genre.
