Max Verstappen WINS Japanese Grand Prix as Red Bull secure one-two finish after lengthy red flag delay following opening-lap crash as Mercedes endure another day to forget

Max Verstappen has continued his seemingly inexorable drive for a fourth straight Formula 1 championship with victory in the Japanese Grand Prix.

The Red Bull star cruised to another race victory at Suzuka on Sunday morning, ahead of teammate Sergio Perez, as the reigning Constructors’ Champion once again dominated the paddock.

Although there were few surprises on the podium, with Carlos Sainz coming home third for Ferrari, the race got off to a dramatic start.

Alex Albon and Danny Ricciardo were involved in a serious crash on the opening lap, with the race postponed by a lengthy red flag.

It was another grueling day for Mercedes, with Lewis Hamilton finishing ninth, two places behind teammate George Russell.
