Max replaces HBO Max on May 23, and here’s what you need to know

Warner Bros. just announced that it will consolidate its HBO Max and Discovery Plus streaming services into a single channel simply called Max. The new service combines all existing programs currently available on HBO Max and Discovery Plus, inclusive The last of usHouse of the Dragon, deadliest catchAnd Succession.

Max will also be home to new programming such as Gremlins: Secrets of the MogwaiAnd A Knight of Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight in addition to projects under development based on The big bang theory, Harry PotterAnd Conjure it characteristics.

Discovery Plus and associated programming will continue to be available as a lower-cost, standalone service. However, if you currently subscribe to HBO Max, here’s what you need to know.

• Max will launch in the United States on May 23 and in Latin America later this year. Certain countries in Europe and Asia will get Max in 2024.
• Existing HBO Max subscribers can access and visit Max at the same price as their HBO Max subscription help.hbomax.com/introducingMax to find out more.
• HBO Max subscribers will still have access to the features of their current subscription for at least six months after launch.
• The HBO Max app will automatically update or subscribers will be prompted to download the new Max app starting May 23.
• Existing profiles, settings, watch history, “Continue Watching” and “My List” items will also be migrated to Max.
• Max will be available on the same devices as HBO Max.

The current features offered by HBO Max’s ad-free annual plan are similar to the Max Ultimate plan, but that plan costs about $50 less; you are simply limited to 30 offline downloads.
