Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake in the “production readiness stage” while fans will have to wait longer for Control 2
Remedy Entertainment has provided development updates for a number of upcoming games including Control 2 and the Max Payne 1 & 2 remake.
The updates have been published in Remedy’s Note to investors on the third quarter of 2023, which was posted today (October 31). The company’s CEO, Tero Virtala, also noted the critical reception for Alan Wake2 “was great,” but admitted that it is “too early to draw conclusions about the game’s commercial success.”
Speaking of Max Payne 1 & 2 remakeVirtala stated that the project has now entered the “production readiness phase.” He said: “We have achieved clarity on the style and scope of the game, and we have an exceptionally well-organised team working on it. With these achievements, we are excited about the project and its future success.”
In the meantime the sequel Check is currently in the proof-of-concept phase. Virtala added that plans for it are “ambitious” but that “good progress” has been made in building and designing the game.
“We will continue in this phase in the coming quarters. We are focusing on proving the identified key elements before moving to the next phase and scaling the team,” he explains.
Otherwise, updates are available for the co-op multiplayer game Condor, which has now also reached production readiness, with Virtala noting that the company is “better positioned to create a game that players can enjoy for years to come” as it has gained a greater understanding of how to create service-based games. Meanwhile, Remedy hopes that the mysterious Codename Vanguard will be able to complete the proof-of-concept phase by the end of the year.
