Max George and Maisie Smith teased an engagement to their followers on Thursday when he “put a ring on it” over a romantic dinner.
The couple were dining at Frankie and Benny’s in Manchester on Wednesday and later shared a video of their evening together on TikTok.
At one point, Max slipped a ring onto Maisie’s engagement finger, but all was not as it seems – an onion ring replaced the typical sparkling diamond.
Maisie held out her manicured hands proudly as Max placed the fried food over her finger, mimicking a proposal.
In the evening, the beloved couple dined on a feast that included calzone pizzas, sundaes, a Purple Rain cocktail and a Coca Cola float.

Their mock engagement comes after the couple landed themselves in hot water with fans earlier this year when they teased a fake pregnancy announcement in April.
Maisie and Max later spoke out about the “pregnancy” joke after irate fans labeled the move insensitive.
The Wanted star seemed to lighten up the situation when he shared a photo of the couple sipping massive milkshakes.
He captioned, “Never. Eating. Again” as Maisie re-shared the photo.
