Max George hits back at MasterChef ‘fix’ row after viewers accused him of ‘lying’ that he couldn’t cook
Max George has hit back at MasterChef’s “fix” line after viewers accused him of “lying” that he couldn’t cook.
The 34-year-old singer of The Wanted wowed judges Gregg Wallace and John Torode on the show despite saying he “never cooks at home.”
After viewers had their say on Twitter after some episodes aired this week, Max took to his Instagram story to respond.
The pop star wrote in a caption, “I’ve seen a lot of food, never cooked, come eat.”
It came after many fans of the show got confused about his skills after saying that he had no experience in cooking.

One of them said, “Is Max George lying that he doesn’t know how to cook?”
Another added: “Can’t cook but can make steak, jam and custard.”
It comes after Max revealed earlier this week that he lied to get into Celebrity Masterchef.
The star, who has taken part in the BBC cooking show’s latest series, appeared on ITV’s Lorraine on Monday to discuss his involvement.
Max confessed to telling the producers of Celebrity Masterchef that he cooks an average of four times a week, when in reality it’s usually once a week at most.
In addition, the pop star admitted that he has not actually cooked at home and has been living off takeaways for “over a year” because he had his kitchen renovated.
Max also revealed that his girlfriend Maisie Smith, 22, thinks he cooks ‘pretty poor’ but insists she’s ‘hard’.
When he appeared in Lorraine, he was asked by alternate host Christine Lampard to guess the name of four different vegetables, which were displayed in front of him.

Max couldn’t name a zucchini, first guessing it was an eggplant, then a cucumber before Christine told him it was a zucchini.
Speaking of being on Celebrity Masterchef, Max said, “It was tough. It was that you had other people around you who were obviously very competitive.
And it would be like Gregg Wallace or John Torode appear out of nowhere like a puppet on your shoulder and a spoon comes out of nowhere and they start tasting.
“Still, it was a great experience. I hadn’t cooked much before going in.
“I think I was one of the later additions and the questionnaire said I had to cook a certain number of times a week. So I said I cooked at home at least four nights a week.’
The Glad You Came hitmaker explained that he’s been having his actual kitchen renovated for a while so relies on takeaways, yet doesn’t cook very often.

He said: ‘I haven’t had a kitchen in over a year as I’m renovating so it’s all been takeaway. I probably don’t cook more than four times a month at home. But I got it!
“You definitely learn along the way and you learn things about food that you never thought before, all the spices and stuff. I definitely learned something, but it was very nerve wracking and stressful!”
Max – who has been dating former ‘EastEnders’ actress Maisie for almost a year – admitted she’s not a fan of his skills in the kitchen.
He said, “She would say average. If she was honest. But she’s tough. If she were here she’d say it was pretty shabby, but other people wouldn’t agree.’
