Max George cuddled his beloved pit bull Albert as he enjoyed a quiet Christmas after finally being released from hospital following emergency heart surgery.

The Wanted singer, 36, was thrilled to be reunited with his four-legged friend after weeks in a ward and having a pacemaker fitted.

Max took to his Instagram Stories on Boxing Day as he and Albert lounged on the couch watching football.

The former Strictly star couldn’t wipe the smile off his face as he kissed his dog on the head and wrote ‘Missed My Boy’.

Max previously admitted he was ‘bruised and battered’ after admitting he was happy to be home during his operation.

Earlier this month he revealed he spent Christmas in hospital after being forced to seek medical attention due to an undiagnosed heart condition.

But on Christmas Day he said he reunited with his girlfriend Maisie Smith, 23, to spend Christmas with family and friends.

In an Instagram post, Max shared some adorable photos of him and his partner cuddling on the couch.

The musician wore a brown hoodie and matching sweatpants as Maisie rested her head on his chest.

On Christmas Eve he told how he had been fired and admitted he was ‘bruised and battered’ before Christmas Day.

And later he went into his story with another recording clip and said, “Merry Christmas everyone!

‘I just wanted to say that I’m back home and waiting for my beautiful girlfriend to arrive at some point. Best gift ever – thanks for the love.

In another photo, the pop star showed off the dining table ready for Christmas lunch, while Maisie was spotted in white and gray striped trousers and a stretchy red hoodie.

And in the last photo, Max was in bed with Maisie, who was still wearing a red paper crown from her Christmas cracker.

Max explained that he is not completely out of the woods yet as doctors want to do more tests in the coming weeks after finding a problem with his lungs.

Max simply captioned the trio of photos with, “It’s so good to be home.”

Max previously revealed he had to stay in hospital due to ongoing heart problems and underwent serious surgery after his condition failed to improve.

Max shared a video from his hospital bed on Tuesday: ‘It’s time to go home. The numbers are much better. I feel exhausted, I slept a lot today.’

But Max revealed he is not completely out of the woods yet as doctors plan to do more tests in the coming weeks after discovering a problem with his lungs.

‘A few more tests need to be done in the coming weeks. It has something to do with my lungs, but that’s the least of my worries right now.

“All good, a little battered and bruised and broken, but,” he added, giving the camera a thumbs up.

It comes after Max revealed he would undergo open heart surgery to have a pacemaker fitted.

After doctors carried out further tests, Max revealed that he will have to get a device that stops the heart beating too slowly after they found a problem with the ‘lower part of his heart’.

He pointed to his chest and said, “So the latest thing is I’m 100 percent going to have a little friend posted here at some point.

‘Um, I have a problem with the lower part of my heart, it’s called a blockage. The tricky part is what I put in there because until I do further tests we don’t know what caused it.’

The Glad You Came hitmaker noted that it’s all a “mystery” as to what happened to him, although doctors have been able to eliminate some possible causes.

Max, who has previously battled alcoholism, said: ‘We’ve cut out a few things, like alcohol. I haven’t had a drink in four and a half years, so that’s not it.

‘It’s actually a bit of a mystery, but that’s the tricky part. It’s the waiting. My heart rate is really low. They keep an eye on it 24/7, everyone has been great.

‘But the waiting is hard. Unfortunately, it’s just one of those things. Whatever I get, I have to keep doing it. We hope that a pacemaker is a good pacemaker.’

In another recent excerpt from his well-documented hospital chronicles, the singer shared that he had a “tough day” in the hospital.

He said: ‘I’ve had a bit of a rough day today.

‘My heart rate dropped this morning, which was a bit scary. But everyone here is great and they’ve managed to get it going again a little bit and get it stable again, which is great.

“A lot of friends and family ask why I don’t just go in and have something done, but there are so many tests to be done before we do anything.”

‘I just have to wait until next week and have all the tests done, then they will know exactly what to do.’

Max concluded his message by saying he is determined to stay positive amid the ordeal.

He said: ‘It’s clear they can do something, but it’s better to do it with all the information they need. But yea, it’s s****. But still here and staying positive.”

WHAT IS A PACEMAKER?

A pacemaker is a small battery-powered device that prevents the heart from beating too slowly.

It requires surgery to install it and is usually performed under local anesthesia

According to the British Heart Foundation, around 50,000 people in Britain get a pacemaker every year
