Jay Leno’s wife was seen arriving at a California hospital to visit her husband after an accident that left him with severe burns to his face

Mavis Leno, 76, looked glum as she arrived at the Peter Grossman Burn Unit in West Hills, California.

Leno was seen in the hospital parking lot with a friend, and together they took a load of luggage from their car to the hospital.

Her husband confirmed he suffered “severe burns” and was rushed to hospital from a gasoline fire after a car set on fire in his LA luxury garage on Saturday.

The former Tonight Show host, 72, was at his Los Angeles mansion when one of the vehicles “went up in flames without warning” — according to sources who told TMZ that the left side of his face was burned.

In a statement, Leno said: “I suffered severe burns from a gasoline fire. I am OK. I only need a week or two to get back on my feet.’

The host of Jay Leno’s Garage was taken to the burn unit at the Grossman Burn Center, according to TMZ, with his eye and ear unaffected by the fire.

George Swift, an associate of the comedian, told ET it was a steam car that sent Leno to the hospital.

‘It was a steam car. This steam was made by gas. It was sprayed like gas,” said Swift, a mechanic who works at the garage.

“He called me, and he told me there was a fire and the fire department is coming,” the employee continued.

Swift also said Leno’s injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

“He’s a tough guy, he’ll be fine. It’s nothing life-threatening,” Leno’s co-worker confirmed. “He’s in good spirits, but you know, it’s going to take a while.”

The Burbank Fire Department also spoke to ET and confirmed they were sent to Leno’s luxury garage around 12:30 a.m. Saturday for reports of a fire.

On arrival at the scene at the 3100 block of North Damon Way, ‘one adult male’ was assessed and treated.

Leno was transported to a local emergency room and then taken to the Grossman Burn Center for further care.

Leno had previously shared details about his extensive collection from Barrons.com, sharing more details about how he came across the fate of old-school cars.

The steam cars, which he had said are “dependable and dependable,” require a boiler to heat water into steam, which is then used to drive a piston that turns the vehicle’s wheels.

In 2021, the “Tonight Show” veteran was actually pulled over in his 1906 Stanley Steamer for speeding on Interstate 405 in California.

Leno’s steam collection includes “cars, stationary engines and even a huge Advance steam tractor,” according to the 2021 story published by Barrons.

Following the incident in his garage on Saturday, he canceled a Las Vegas performance scheduled for the following day after event organizers revealed he had a “serious medical emergency.”

An email to Forum 2022 participants from The Financial Brand and obtained by People read: “His family was unable to provide us with many details, but there was a very serious medical emergency that prevented Jay from traveling.

“We only know he’s alive, so our prayers go out to him and his family tonight.” It is clear that Leno has canceled his engagement for this week as a precaution, after being rushed to the hospital.

Jay Leno’s Garage posted to Instagram yesterday a photo of the host posing in his garage with three of his extensive car collection.

According to US News & World Report, the star has more than 180 vehicles, including exotic cars, hypercars and museum-quality artifacts.

His collection includes vehicles that are both affordable and attainable, with the host of Jay Leno’s Garage having an affinity for motor vehicles.

It’s not the first time the star has put himself in danger with his beloved vehicles, as he was visibly shaken after getting into a car accident while filming the 2016 CNBC show starring legendary stunt driver Bob Riggle.

Both ended up upside down after Riggle lost control and the car flipped over, though neither was injured.
