Former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has reportedly resigned from his role at Lazio after his side suffered a fourth consecutive defeat in all competitions to Udinese.
Lazio were defeated 2-1 in Serie A on Monday, their twelfth defeat from 28 games, leaving the team in ninth place.
Now SportsMediaSethave reported via the Sun that Sarri has resigned from his role following the latest setback in their campaign.
The report adds that the club accepted his resignation due to his ‘complicated’ relationship with president Claudio Lotito, adding that the club ‘would have later dismissed him’ if results did not improve.
The frontrunners to replace Sarri are legendary former player Tommaso Rocchi – the club’s youth team boss – and sporting director Igli Tare, the report said.

Lazio’s turbulent season recently saw them finish with eight players after a 1-0 defeat to AC Milan as tensions boiled over in March.
It saw them become the first Serie A side to receive three red cards in one match since Palermo did so against Bologna in 2012.
Sarri joined Lazio in 2021 and had a winning percentage of 47.45 percent after winning 65 games, drawing 30 and losing 42 of his 137 games in charge.
His previous job was at Juventus, where he lasted just one season in 2019/20 despite winning Serie A that season while working alongside stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo.
The former Napoli boss is best known to English football fans for his only season in charge at Chelsea, where he led the Blues to the Carabao Cup final in 2018/19 before capping off with a win in the Europa League.
The club decided to fire him that summer and replace him with Frank Lampard.
