Mauricio Pochettino has stated that he has no problem with Chelsea’s owners entering the dressing room after matches.

It was reported on Monday that co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali entered the dressing room after every match this season.

Pochettino is not concerned this could undermine his authority, revealing he has experienced similar situations at previous clubs.

‘I like it when the owners come. In my whole career I think it’s good. The way they approach the players is the most important,” Pochettino said.

“They came and shared with us, they also did it with Liverpool and Luton and Nottingham Forest. They came with (co-sports directors) Paul (Winstanley) and Laurence (Stewart), Behdad and sometimes Todd (Boehly) and we talk about the game. I don’t see it in a bad way. For me it’s always good when they share with us and go with the players.

‘I think they are doing very well and we are happy that they spent time with us. When we win and it’s good things, and to share when we suffer, like on Sunday.’

Chelsea have had a difficult start to the season, losing three of their first six games.

This follows on from their difficult 2022-2023 season in which they finished 12th, with Boehly reportedly taking to the dressing room in the final weeks of the season to brand the players’ performances as ’embarrassing’.

Pochettino is happy with Boehly and Co. in the team, but admits that it is important that they do not go too far when addressing the players.

He added: “It’s not the owner’s job to come into the dressing room and make a speech. They know very well how to behave.’

Chelsea are in 14th place and have scored just five goals in their six league games so far.

However, Pochettino insists he is happy with the performance and believes his side can turn their form around.

He has also denied that the task is tougher than he thought, admitting he expected tough times to get Chelsea back on track.

‘We are playing well, we are just not clinical in front of goal. That is what we have to solve and try to give more confidence to our attacking players,” he explained.

It’s (the job) no worse than I thought. I think we always knew that the new project is always difficult. This period is a worse scenario than we can think of to anticipate the situation.

‘It seems like everything is against us as the team’s performance deserves more points. All teams go through different periods, and I think we have the capacity to turn this around.”
