Matty Healy appeared to hit back at fellow artist Youngblud in a foul-mouthed rant on Instagram on Monday.
The 1975 frontman, 33, took to social media a week after the Yorkshire rapper apparently branded her a “privileged white male”.
Matty shared a foul-mouthed rant in which he impersonated an exaggerated northern accent with a filter that placed the word Emo on both cheeks.
It comes after Matty faced criticism from fans following a recent podcast appearance where he debuted New York rapper Ice Spice’s estate.
Speaking in The Adam Friedland Show with his bandmates, he debated whether the singer was Hawaiian or Chinese and impersonated foreign accents before saying he believed Harry Styles “gets a free pass” over alleged “queer mistreatment”.

Drama: The 1975 frontman took to social media a week after the Yorkshire rapper apparently branded her a “privileged white male”
In a now-viral tweet, Yungblud wrote, apparently in reference to the podcast’s look and feel: “I love hearing three privileged white dudes sit down and objectify a young black artist who is exploding.” welcome to your 30’s I guess’.
After a week of not responding, Matty shared a clip of the Tissues hitmaker to his Instagram Stories as the star read a book and smoked onstage, writing, “I feel kind of responsible and so sorry.”
He then posted a video of himself appearing to imitate the singer saying, “Okay guys I’m so fucking mad.”
“Someone blew themselves up in the Ukraine and, uh, we’re not going to stand for that because we’re the generation of underrated youth and that’s what we stand for,” apparently in reference to Yungblud’s 2019 album The Underrated Youth. .
He continued: “I don’t stand for things, I’m opposed to things…I’m just opposed to things and it tends to be the most morally obvious…Fuck the patriarchy!”
MailOnline has contacted representatives for Matty and Yungblud for comment.
It comes after Matty was saved from potentially being a second brush with controversy while performing with The 1975 in Leeds last month.
The band have won rave reviews for their groundbreaking new At Their Very Best tour, a unique mix of Samuel Beckett-esque music and theatre, underscored by Healy’s occasionally bizarre interaction with fans.
Mimic: Matty shared a foul-mouthed rant in which he imitated an exaggerated northern accent with a filter that placed the word Emo on both cheeks.
But the singer risked creating something darker than kitchen sink drama when he addressed the audience during a break between songs at Leeds’ First Direct Arena.
Healy, who previously suffered backlash for a poorly rationalized tweet about George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement, appeared to walk another fine line by telling fans: “I don’t think it’s racist to say that…”
But the sentence was cut short when bandmates Ross MacDonald, George Daniel and Adam Hann instantly burst into the opening chords of the 2018 hit It’s Not Living (If It’s Not With You), a move that seemed to save the singer from further controversy. .

Realizing he had been interrupted, the singer was heard muttering “Oh, for God’s sake”, before joining the band.
Healy was forced to deactivate his Twitter in 2020 after posting a poorly received tweet following the death of 46-year-old black man George Floyd at the hands of a white police officer in Minneapolis.
Floyd died Monday after a police officer knelt on the back of his neck while he was handcuffed, leaving him unable to breathe in a horrifying incident that was caught on camera.
Strange: After a week of not responding, Matty shared a clip of Yungblud to his Instagram Stories as the star read a book and smoked onstage writing: “I feel kind of responsible and so sorry.”
Healy tweeted: “If you truly believe ‘ALL LIVES MATTER’ you need to stop facilitating the end of black people,” along with a link to his song Love It If We Made It.
The link angered many fans because they felt the vocalist was using the tragic death as a promotional vehicle.
Most recently, the singer has divided fans by opting to tongue kiss several women in the audience as The 1975 go on their ongoing UK tour in support of the new album Being Funny In A Foreign Language.
In videos captured from one particular concert, he could also be seen sucking a woman’s thumb.

Healy previously admitted that he had trouble being sexualized by fans of the group.
He said The Guardian: ‘People were having a romantic relationship with the band, I was sexualized to a certain extent; it was sexy, in the way that leather jackets and smoking and all that kind of shit was sexy.’
But he admitted that this description was difficult for him because he was struggling with his mental health as he had not dealt with some traumatic “early sexual experiences”.
“I’m not going to be specific, but I had some early sexual experiences that as I got older were very, very difficult to deal with,” she added.
