Matthijs de Ligt is on the bench for Manchester United’s Premier League season opener against Fulham, but new signing Noussair Mazraoui will start.
The defensive duo arrived at Old Trafford three days ago in a double deal worth £60million from Bayern Munich, but Erik ten Hag has opted to leave De Ligt among his replacements, selecting Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez instead.
The Dutch centre-back has only taken part in a few training sessions with his team-mates but has been named in United’s matchday squad as expected.
Mazroaui has been fielded at left-back as Luke Shaw is injured.
