Matthew Perry’s $8.55million Pacific Palisades mansion where he died narrowly misses being destroyed by LA wildfires as the devastation continues

Matthew Perry’s old $8.55 million mansion has survived the Pacific Palisades fire as devastation continues in LA.

The Friends star tragically died at the property in October 2023 at the age of 54, and new footage shows the fire has engulfed the property and left the pool full of ash and dirt.

The property’s new owner, Anita Verma-Lallian, who bought it off the market in October 2024, confirmed that the late Friends star’s home was still standing because of the heroic actions of their community.

“We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the brave firefighters, our wonderful neighbors and the entire Palisades community for their help, strength and support during this heartbreaking time,” Verma-Lallian wrote in an Instagram post on Friday.

Verma-Lallian also confirmed to People that her real estate agent, Brooke Elliott Laurinkus, “helped monitor the home and protect it from any fires during the natural disaster.”

In her caption, she thanked Laurinkus for “keeping us informed of everything that is happening” and for “assisting anyone who needs a temporary home during this time.”

“Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by this tragedy, and we hope that we can come together to heal, protect and rebuild what has been lost,” she concluded. “The Palisades will always have a special place in our hearts.”

Verma-Lallian, who works as a film producer and real estate developer, bought Perry’s old house a year after his sudden death.

The four-bedroom, five-bathroom home sold just three months ago for a whopping $8.55 million.

According to Realtor.comthe building was surrounded by fire on Wednesday, with neighbors on Blue Sail Drive sharing gruesome images of the fast-approaching fire on social media.

The Palisades fire — one of three unprecedented wildfires terrorizing Southern California — has scorched more than 15,000 acres of land and destroyed about 1,000 structures. Tens of thousands of LA residents are currently under evacuation orders.

Fortunately, despite that, it did not burn down Cal Fire’s live map shows the neighborhood within the ‘incident perimeter’ earlier this week.

Verma-Lallian confirmed via Instagram Story at the time that she and her family are ‘safe’, but did not provide any information about the condition of the property.

‘Thank you to everyone who contributed. Our family is safe and we are waiting for updates. I pray for everyone affected by the wildfires,” the film producer wrote.

She also reposted horrific BBC News footage of homes in the Pacific Palisades going up in flames as extreme winds swept through the devastated area.

Verma-Lallian – based in Scottsdale, Arizona – purchased Perry’s 3,500-square-foot mansion off-market in October 2024.

She told me earlier The Los Angeles Times that she planned to use the Pacific Palisades estate as a “vacation home.”

Home’s sale came almost exactly a year after the Friends star was found dead in the residence’s hot tub on October 28, 2023.

Matthew originally purchased the home, located on a hill overlooking the ocean, in 2020 for $6 million. Before his death, the actor completely renovated the property, trading a light oak floor for darker wood and boho furniture for much brighter colors.

He regularly shared photos of his home, pool and garden, showing he was a big fan of Batman as artwork of the hooded crusader was prominently displayed in his home.

In fact, his very last Instagram post was a shot of him enjoying the hot tub he died in, as the lights of the city twinkled behind him.

His death was ruled an accident due to the acute effects of ketamine. Buprenorphine, which is often used to treat opioid addiction, was also found in his system.

Contributing factors to his death were drowning and coronary artery disease.

While it is unknown whether Perry’s former home was destroyed, many members of the Hollywood elite could not escape the wrath of the Los Angeles wildfires.

The upscale neighborhood of Pacific Palisades has been reduced to ash and rubble, with several celebrities among those who have lost their homes.

Actors Adam Brody and Leighton Meester’s $7 million mansion is one of 1,000 structures destroyed as a result of the wildfires.

The couple bought the five-bedroom home in 2019, but photos show the property is now up in flames.

Likewise, actress Anna Faris’ $5 million eco-friendly residence was completely decimated by the fire.

Former talk show host Ricki Lake shared an emotional post in which she mourned the “immeasurable” loss of her “dream home.”

Lake, 56, bought the property in 2014. She and husband Ross Sussman got married there in their backyard just three years ago.

‘I can’t believe I’m typing these words […] Ross and I lost our dream home,” Lake wrote on Instagram.

Oscar-nominated actor James Woods shared footage of a house two blocks away from his property completely engulfed in flames.

Reality stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag confirmed their home was also lost.

Pratt, 41, was captured in photos watching the rapidly advancing fire move toward his home.

Fortunately, the couple and their two sons were able to evacuate safely earlier in the day before the flames got too close.

Meanwhile, Mandy Moore, Ben Affleck and Mark Hamill are among the 30,000 residents currently under evacuation orders as the fires continue to rage through Los Angeles.

Fanned by extreme Santa Ana winds, the Palisades Fire ignited Tuesday morning in the Santa Monica Mountains and is now the most destructive wildfire in Los Angeles history.

Separate fires broke out miles away Tuesday evening in Eaton Canyon and the San Fernando Valley and continue to terrorize residents of the cities of Altadena, Pasadena and Sylmar.

Despite working through the night, firefighters have been unable to contain the blazes that have scorched more than 25,000 acres of land in Southern California.

More than 1,000 buildings have been destroyed and five people have died as of Wednesday as a result of the catastrophic fires, according to the LA Times.
