Matthew McConaughey’s love for the University of Texas Longhorns just got stronger, if that’s even possible.

The Hollywood star and secretary of culture at the Austin school joined Pat McAfee, Darius Butler and AJ Hawk for ESPN’s alternate broadcast of Alabama-Texas.

While providing some color commentary around the game — fortunately for viewers — McConaughey had a microphone in his hand when UT quarterback Quinn Ewers launched a bomb on Xavier Worthy for a 10-3 Longhorns lead.

McConaughey celebrated exuberantly with McAfee and Co. — and of course made sure to give the “Hook ‘Em” signal into the camera amid other funny histrionics.

“Hook ’em up baby! Was that money, was that money, was that there? Hi-def, live, front, touchdown horns. Hook them up, baby,” McConaughey said.

What made the moment even more exciting is that it happened right in front of McConaughey and the crew.

The 44-yard diving touchdown catch helped the visiting Horns take a 13-6 lead into halftime.

Regardless of the outcome of Saturday night’s game, the meeting between No. 3 Alabama and No. 11 Texas is historic.

Prior to the game, the Longhorns had not traveled to Tuscaloosa, AL. since a 10-0 win in 1902. Yes, 1902.

If Texas wants to win, it will be the first time the country has beaten the Tide, the first time since 1981.

Granted, the teams have only played once between then and the present day: the 2009 National Championship, in which Bama won 37-21.

McConaughey regularly attends football and basketball games in Texas and is a celebrity in Austin.
