Matthew McConaughey enjoyed a delicious, fruity cereal for his birthday breakfast on Friday.

The actor, who turned 53, shared a shirtless photo of himself tucking into a bowl of Fruity Pebbles on Instagram. Cartoon characters Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble appeared on the bright red box next to him.

It seems this is an annual tradition for the Oscar winner, as he captioned the photo, “Waiting all year for my birthday breakfast… I wasn’t paid by Fred or Barney for this post #noad.”

His movie, Dallas Sting, was reportedly canceled in mid-September. According to The Hollywood Reporter it was “to tell the true story of a girls soccer team from Dallas who traveled to China and, against the odds, defeated some of the best women’s teams in the world.”

Despite wanting to tell the story, Skydance reportedly pulled the plug after receiving “troubling allegations about aspects of the true story” from the 1984 team.

The film was almost entirely cast with Booksmart and Ticket to Paradise’s Kaitlyn Dever reportedly playing McConaughey’s daughter in the film.
