AFL champion Matthew Lloyd has criticized the Swans for their lackluster performance on Saturday, highlighting moments during the match that he believes will haunt them for years to come.
After being on top since round nine and looking like they had their ducks in a row, the Swans were overrun in the second term at the MCG on Saturday and slumped to an absolute hammering by the Brisbane Lions.
The former Essendon big man ripped into The Sunday Footy Show to highlight moments from the match that featured the Swans.
“Let’s take a look at the content that will haunt Sydney Swans for the rest of their careers. Here’s Brodie Grundy, unforgivable to him, and Hayden McLean was in just as bad of a pickle when he got a rag,” Lloyd said.
“Dane Rampe has been a great player for a long time, you don’t get beat like that in a one-on-one match.
“This is McInernery… this is inexcusable. What is that? That’s as bad as it gets on grand final day.
‘Errol Gulden about Ashcroft, who simply fell behind when the match was not on your terms, and allowed Ashcroft to score a goal.
“Look at Blakey down here, where’s the touch. Bad grand finale from Blakey. I didn’t want the touch, didn’t want to have body contact, so Rayner gets a run-up and jumps to the footy.

Lloyd says these moments will haunt Swans players for the rest of their careers
“Tom Papley was in everyone’s face until the grand final day when he coughed up the ball. Blakey, what kind of tackle was that? He has to live with this, they all have to for the rest of their time in this match, embarrassing themselves on grand final day.
“This one here, the chase of Joe Daniher, and this is what Johnny Longmire will have to live with for the rest of his time here. I knew they were uncoached, outmuscled in the biggest game of all they have played. will have to live with it.’
Swans great Jude Bolton also torched Sydney’s performance in Saturday’s AFL decider.
Bolton, 44, who won two flags with the Bloods in 2005 and 2012, threw himself into the action.

“Only 33 tackles from the Swans (until three-quarter time),” Bolton posted on X.
‘It’s shameful to let it become such an uncontested game and not have any control over the football.
‘Belted when stationary. Great performance by the Lions.’
