Matt Goss has revealed he was haunted by his mother’s ghost after being voted out of Strictly Come Dancing earlier this month.

The former Bros star, 54, lost his mother Carol Philips to cancer in 2014, but revealed that after he was eliminated from the BBC show, she appeared for him ‘about five times’ that night.

He told The sun: ‘The night after I left the series, I didn’t want to see the show and just wanted to be in my own bubble. I got a flood of messages from people and that night I just lay in the dark listening to music.

“A bag fell off a shelf. And then I said, “Mom, is that you? If it’s you, can the music stop?” And then the music stopped. Then it turned on and did it again.

“It happened about five times. I knew it was my mother. It was unbelievable and this unbelievable warm feeling came over me. It was a beautiful thing and I knew it was a sign that everything was going to be okay.’

Matt became the third celebrity to leave the dance floor at last week’s results show, after meeting actress Kym Marsh in the dreaded dance-off.

The singer – who collaborated with Nadiya Bychkova – performed a Jive to All Shook Up in an effort to impress the judges and stay in the competition.

Matt and Nadiya took 20 points on Saturday’s live show, placing them in last place on the standings, while Kym and Graziano took 32 points, finishing fifth.

After both couples danced a second time, the judges rendered their verdict, with Craig, Motsi and Anton all voting to save Kym and Graziano.

When Tess Daly asked him about his time on the show, Matt said, “It’s an extraordinary experience, I’ve been in America for 25 years.

“Thank you judges for your candor, you have helped me in many ways, my attitude – Anton, I am more aware.

‘This beautiful lady next to me, a world champion with all the patience. I’m very honored to have danced with you, and everyone who’s still in it, I love you, go broke guys.’
