Matt Gaetz savagely trolled as he begs George Santos for makeup advice after plastic surgery fail
Matt Gaetz made waves Friday when he welcomed former Rep. George Santos to his new show — prompting some negative comments on social media about similarities between the two.
The pair of disgraced politicians used the primetime slot to swap beauty secrets, after Gaetz raised eyebrows — no pun intended — with his surprising, decidedly different look at the show’s premiere a day earlier.
There was immediate debate about what he described as unflattering makeup, and what others insisted was evidence of plastic surgery.
Three plastic surgeons who spoke to DailyMail.com after the appearance said they believed Gaetz, 42, was showing signs of Botox use, months after “Daily Show” correspondent Desi Lydic surfaced to claim the same thing.
The speculation paved the way for a current insight from Santos, who himself caught fire in 2023 after a House investigation revealed he had spent campaign funds on things like cosmetics, clothing, OnlyFans subscriptions and – what else? – Botox.
He was expelled from Congress later that year — a fate that might also have awaited the representative of Florida’s 1st congressional district had he not resigned.
The observation that Gaetz might have followed suit in a cosmetic sense was widespread on social media after episode one and would even be echoed by a playful Santos, 36, on day two.
The disgraced New York representative told him he was “concerned” when he saw an image of Gaetz on the controversial right-wing One America News Network (OAN), with some arched eyebrows and a waxy face that led some to compare him to a cartoon villain .

“I thought you messed up Botox or something,” Santos said, hours after asking a federal judge to delay sentencing in his federal fraud case. He added that he had been “concerned.”
“What was wrong with my makeup?” Gaetz asked at another point, apparently eager to hear from someone known for his former drag persona “Kitara.”
‘Help me, give me advice.’
Santos, seemingly relishing the chance to reveal some cosmetic secrets, quickly agreed.
“Let me tell you something: highlighter is not for you,” he said, before onlookers took to X to mock the pair for their political and aesthetic similarities.
‘Stop emphasizing the center of your face. It makes your eyes really small, and it gives you the shine – not the shine you think it gives you,” Santos continued, after pleading guilty to federal fraud, campaign finance and embezzlement charges over the summer.
Gaetz — who had tapped to take over as attorney general from Donald Trump before it emerged he was the subject of a since-closed House Ethics Committee investigation, which found he repeatedly solicited sex during his time in Congress paid – offered an answer.
“But I have deep-set eyes, George… How can I fix the deep-set eyes?” he asked, after some commentators compared him to a Who from Whoville, a la Dr.’s famous Christmas story. Seuss.
A discourse immediately arose about what he described as unflattering makeup, and what others insisted was evidence of plastic surgery. The speculation paved the way for a current insight from Santos, who himself drew fire in 2023 after spending campaign funds on Botox.
Santos, a lover of fashion and all things designer, responded by telling his fellow conservative that he should start buying an “Estée Lauder double-wear foundation” if he wants to avoid any more misconceptions about his mug.
‘Look at the flawlessness of my skin. No highlighter needed!’ he exclaimed at another point.
“You’re a Florida man. I’m in Florida now. If you’re tan and a Florida guy, you don’t need that level of highlighter’
Santos, a serial con man whose seemingly endless scandals got him voted out of office, presented the words as “honest advice.”
Bystanders online were – again – not so kind, mercilessly making fun of the pair in what amounted to a two-pronged defeat.
“Does he teach Matt how to dress too?” shot one person, in a tweet that has since been viewed about 8,000 times.
“The MAGA flex is ridiculous. These guys should both be in jail,” another added, while someone else joked. “It’s interesting that they didn’t give each other any crime tips.”
“Both should be in jail,” a third person said – a claim echoed by several others.

“OAN spends about $36.50 per episode, so they probably can’t afford a makeup artist. I get it,” someone else said, amid other insults portraying the two as “clowns” and the broadcast as “a low point.”
Gaetz has – as the conversation suggested – never admitted to having plastic or cosmetic surgery, despite a recent, relatively different appearance.
Among those who took notice was Daily Show correspondent Lydic, who used her platform in November to satirically state that the rep underwent his alleged plastic surgeries “to trick 16-year-old girls into having dinner with him.”
“Hey guys, it’s Desi, your beauty analyst, back to talk about plastic surgery trends among Republican members of Congress. Today we’re going to cover Matt Gaetz,” Lydic began the video, which lasted 80 seconds.
“Now I would like to remind you that there is no moral judgment on my page. People undergo plastic surgery for different reasons. Sometimes it’s medical, and sometimes it’s to trick 16 year old girls into having dinner with you.
“Again, no judgment, just love.
“So Matt showed up on the House floor last week looking absolutely incredible, like in this photo,” Lydic continued, showing a year-old side-by-side photo on the left and current Gaetz on the right.
‘But if you look at his other photo from a few years ago, it looks like he’s had a lot of Botox and maybe some filler.
In November, “Daily Show” correspondent Desi Lydic recorded a video addressing the congressman’s apparently different appearance, joking about how he underwent his alleged plastic surgeries “to trick 16-year-old girls into dating him.” go eat’.

‘Again, the reasons for this may vary. It could be a health issue, or it could be because he was fed up with high schoolers accurately guessing his age on dating apps,” she denied, before further ridiculing the failed politician for his appearance.
‘Now it looks like he has had a nose job because the bridge is slimmer and smoother. The surgeon here has done a very good job, as Matt still looks like himself, but is more of a predator, if that’s possible.
“I also suspect he has had an upper eyelid surgery combined with a brow lift, which makes his face look much more symmetrical and makes it more likely to defund Planned Parenthood.
“I would like to remind you that this is just my personal opinion, I am not his injector or plastic surgeon or even a junior varsity athlete he tried to take on a date.
“And again, this is Matt’s body, so it’s his choice what he does with it – something he doesn’t believe in when it comes to pregnant people,” Lydic concluded, before offering the former congressman one last chance.
‘Follow me for more education on beauty, Botox, skin care and plastic surgery – unless you’re Matt Gaetz, in which case unfollow me, it scares me. I’m way too old for you.’
On Friday, Dr. Christopher Costa, a plastic surgeon in Las Vegas, agreed, telling DailyMail.com, “What it looks like to me is that he’s almost been overtreated with neurotoxins, things like Botox.
‘With your standard neurotoxin treatment, your goal is to soften the lines, but still have facial expression and still be able to move the face.
Speaking to Santos, he put it down to bad makeup, which paved the way for some advice
Hours earlier, after pleading guilty last summer, Santos asked a federal judge to delay sentencing in his federal fraud case. It is currently scheduled for next month
“In his case, it’s almost like he got a double dose, like these patients who come in and say, ‘I want you to freeze my face,’” he concluded.
Dr. Michael Persky, a plastic surgeon in California, and Dr. Paul Rosenberg, based in New Jersey, are both older. “He’s had Botox… and, to be honest, not injected in the most professional way, because he’s manifesting what we call the ‘Spock look.’
“So when he raises his eyebrows to look animated… everything is frozen except the center of the forehead, which artificially raises his eyebrows.”
Gaetz – who has denied all allegations of sexual misconduct – has not indicated that he has undergone any such surgeries. His new show, The Matt Gaetz Show, airs weekdays on primetime.
