Matt Damon was involved in a hoax bomb threat while on holiday in Mykonos with his wife Luciana Barroso on Saturday night.
Mykonos police took immediate action after receiving an anonymous email at 11pm falsely claiming that explosives had been placed at four beach bars on the Greek island, a popular tourist destination.
With an estimated 4,000 partygoers out on Saturday, bar owners were urged to turn down the volume of the music and escort patrons to the exit in a calm and orderly manner.
Damon, who had been staying in Mykonos with his family for the past week, was one of the people at the third location who was immediately evacuated.
In footage from the crime scene filmed on social media, the 53-year-old actor appeared calm and compliant, following instructions and walking outside.

In the Paranga area, where two of the four beach bars are located, about 4,000 tourists were absent when the evacuations took place.
The demand for vehicles as customers left caused traffic congestion on at least half of the island’s roads.
A bar owner told Greek newspaper The Greek Outlet that he described the scene Prototheme: ‘When we received a report from the police, we immediately turned down the music and calmly moved our guests to a safe place.
“It was a challenging situation, but we managed to maintain order.”
Local police later confirmed that the threat was a hoax.
Damon is on holiday on the island with his wife Luciana and their four daughters: Alexia, 25, Isabella, 18, Gia, 15, and Stella, 13.
Alexia, Damon’s stepdaughter, was four years old when he met Luciana in a crowded Miami nightclub in 2003 while on location in Florida filming Stuck On You.
“Matt’s story is that he saw me across the room and there was a light shining on me. And I thought, ‘Yeah, it was a nightclub – there were lights everywhere!'” Luciana said in a rare interview with Vogue Australia from 2018.

Although she felt a connection with the Hollywood star, she did not dare to do so because she already had a daughter.
“But I thought, ‘I can’t do that, I have a four-year-old daughter, I’m not going anywhere’… and that was one of the things he loved, that I had a daughter,” she explained.
The couple confirmed their engagement in September 2005 and married almost three months later in a private civil ceremony at the Manhattan Marriage Bureau.
“He said, ‘I think it’s great that you’re a mom and that’s your priority.’ Some guys might be different, they might find it complicated, but for him it wasn’t.”
