Matt Damon admits this Oscar-nominated actor ‘looked exactly like me’ as a child: ‘I hope I get to work with him’

After years of comparisons, Matt Damon was finally asked if he thought he looked like his so-called doppelganger Jesse Plemons, despite their 17-year age difference.

“Definitely, yes, yes, yes, absolutely,” the 53-year-old Oscar-winning screenwriter confirmed on Access to Hollywood on Monday.

On June 11, the 36-year-old Oscar-nominated actor was literally placed in a cage Jimmy Kimmel Live because he looks like Matt, as the talk show host has had a long-standing public rivalry with Damon.

Jesse said he once played the younger version of Cambridge cowboy character John Grady Cole when he was 11 years old in Billy Bob Thorton’s 2000 western All the Pretty Horse.

“It was the most exciting part I’ve ever experienced,” Plemons recalls.

After years of comparisons, Matt Damon was finally asked if he thought he looked like his so-called doppelganger Jesse Plemons, despite their 17-year age difference: “Sure, yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely!”

“By the time the movie premiered, my mom called our local theater and had them do a special screening for us. I invited this girl I had a crush on and I was supposed to be the very first scene of the movie. And we sat down and I wasn’t there.”

The Texas redhead realized his scenes were completely cut from the film: “So maybe it was [Matt]’?

Kimmel scoffed: “Of course he was. Billy Bob would never do that.”

But Damon has only fond memories of the set in Texas, where the crew “freaked out” about their strong resemblance.

“Five people came up to me before I met him and said, ‘You won’t believe how much this kid looks like you,’” the IF actor told Access.

‘The stills photographer took a picture of us together because I couldn’t believe it. He looked more like me than he did when I was little. Like my little 11-year-old face didn’t look like that [was going to grow up to be me]. He looked just like me. I thought, “This is really weird.”

Matt continued, “But he’s a great actor and I love what he’s done, the choices he makes. He’s so incredible to watch. So I’m proud of the comparison… I would love to do something with him. I think he’s great. I hope I get to work with him.”

Damon and Casey Affleck next star as robbers Rory and Cobby on the run in Doug Liman’s comedy The Instigators, which opens in select U.S. theaters on Friday and is available to stream on Apple TV+ on August 9.
