Matildas star Katrina Gorry has announced her engagement to fellow footballer Clara Markstedt in a sweet post just weeks after a historic home World Cup for Australia.
The tiny midfielder, who has earned more than 93 caps for the Matildas as a vital part of the side’s engine room, is also mother to daughter Harper, who will soon be two.
Gorry, affectionately known as ‘Mini’, gave birth to her daughter solo through IVF, before making a stunning return to football.
That family has now grown to three and Gorry says yes to Markstedt’s proposal.
“The best love stories never end. YES,” the Matildas veteran posted on her social media account of the romantic proposal in a beautiful seaside location.

The Aussie veteran has made 93 appearances for the Matildas and will be a vital part of the upcoming World Cup at home.
Gorry and Markstedt met while playing at Swedish club Vittsjö, and are now together parents to the Matildas star’s daughter, Harper – completing the adorable family
‘She said yes! How did I get so lucky?’ wrote Markstedt, who is also a talented performer, as well as a veteran of the top-rated Swedish league, the Damallsvenskan.
The stars of Matilda were quick to congratulate the popular veteran, 30, on the brilliant news.
‘I love this! I’m so happy for you both,” goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold wrote, while Arsenal star Steph Catley commented: “STOP, so, so, so happy for you!”
Close mate and Matildas legend Michelle Heyman was also happy with the news.
‘WOW!! Congratulations beautiful! This is the best news ever! I can’t wait to celebrate with you!’ said the A-League Women star.
Matilda’s teammates rushed to congratulate the beloved couple on their engagement

The pair met while playing at Swedish club Vittsjö and got together last year, with Matilda’s teammates Charlotte Grant and Tegan Micah taking up duties as the romance blossomed.
Both Matildas youngsters were over the moon at the happy moment.
“CONGRATULATIONS TO MY FAVORITES,” Grant wrote, while Micah commented, “Couldn’t be more perfect together!”
It’s an exciting period for Gorry, with a World Cup at home now in five weeks, with the Matildas opening the tournament with a blockbuster against Ireland in front of a sold-out crowd at Sydney Olympic Park on July 20.
The veteran midfielder will be crucial in Australia’s push for a historic trophy under superstar skipper Sam Kerr as she completes her preparation in Sweden before heading Down Under.
After taking the time to go through the arduous IVF procedure solo and having Harper, Gorry’s return to the national team has been nothing short of outstanding.

And she owes that in large part to her new fiancé, who has completed the now-family-of-three beautifully.
“I’m so lucky to have the support of my family that I have because without them I could never do this,” she shared Impulse earlier this year.
“Having Clara changed everything for Harper and me. She’s great with her, and Harper loves her more than anything.
“It’s been a rough few days, but it’s so satisfying to be able to do this and take Harper on a journey.”
