- Was romantically linked about a year earlier
Matildas striker Caitlin Foord and her Irish footballer girlfriend Katie McCabe were spotted on a Sydney beach on Tuesday after their World Cup love triangle stunned football fans last year.
The couple, who publicly announced their relationship in May, went for an early morning swim at a beach in Sydney’s south on the last day of the year.
Photographers captured the pair, who have been teammates at Arsenal since 2020, smiling in the summer sun.
Dressed in skimpy bikinis, the sporty power couple showed off their athletic physiques during the intimate beach day.
Irish captain McCabe is enjoying her time Down Under with her Australian partner and regularly posts photos on social media of the couple enjoying the outdoors.
They both traveled to New South Wales’ Hunter Valley last week to attend the wedding of Matildas star Emily Van Egmond and her partner Kat Thompson.

Rumors that the Arsenal teammates were dating have been circulating since a fiery love triangle emerged during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The romance is rumored to have started after McCabe ended her long-term relationship with her international teammate Ruesha Littlejohn just before the World Cup.
That got tongues wagging that McCabe and Foord were an item, but they remained tight-lipped as the occasional image or video of them together surfaced.
Littlejohn made her feelings very public, with her Ireland teammates having to physically restrain her after she aggressively approached Foord at the end of their World Cup match.
When the players shared high fives, Littlejohn completely ignored Foord.
Foord had also recently become single after splitting from Swiss midfielder and Arsenal teammate Lia Walti, further fueling the rumours.
Littlejohn and McCabe started seeing each other around 2016, with their first date in St Albans. Three years later they made their relationship public.
‘It started with football. She’s a few years older than me,” McCabe said.
‘I first met her through football and we became good friends. We spent a lot more time together off the field and it took off from there.”

McCabe said their shared love of football brought them together.
“We are both passionate about it, obviously our drive is to win trophies and qualify for championships with the Republic of Ireland,” she added. ‘We are both very driven.
“Don’t get me wrong, we’ve clashed a few times over certain games and training, but that’s part of the game. We are very professional when we play football, that is our main focus.
“Then we can relax when we get back home.”
Foord previously declined to comment on the row and there is no indication she was involved in the breakdown of Littlejohn and McCabe’s relationship.
