‘Chocolate with mushrooms and blueberries?’: Masterchef viewers left HORRIFIED when they judged the contestant’s dish a ‘step too far!’
Masterchef viewers were horrified by contestant Vanessa D’Souza’s unique dish on Tuesday’s episode after the show returned for its 19th season.
During the challenge, the buddy chefs created dishes inspired by their favorite TV chefs, with the anti-piracy manager presenting the judges with pasta with chocolate, mushrooms and blueberries.
Taking a leaf out of fusion chef Ixta Belfrage’s book, the concoction received mixed feedback from the panel, with viewers declaring it a “step too far.”
“You’ve been very bold with your ingredients,” said Greg Wallace as John Torode described the dish as “really clever.”
“Blueberries and chocolate and mushrooms in pasta?” one stunned viewer asked on Twitter.

Ugh: Taking a leaf out of fusion chef Ixta Belfrage’s book, the concoction received mixed feedback from the panel, only to have viewers declare it was a ‘step too far’
With another writing ‘Blueberries and pasta is a step too far’ and another declared ‘pudding and pasta’ was a total bust.
And the fourth teased, “Oh dear Vanessa, have only yourself to blame, I’m afraid.”
While a fifth wrote, “Blueberries, mushrooms and chocolate are when you make a meal out of what’s left in the fridge.”
‘Chocolate? And blueberry? In pepper sauce? And pasta? In one dish?’ asked another incredulously.
Despite the less than favorable feedback, Vanessa still made it through to the next round with Johnny sent home.
The show returned Monday night with Greg and co-host John Jto the offers of nine new hopeful amateur chefs.
However, things got off to an awkward start when Greg told one of the contestants that “undercooked” chicken made him feel “uncomfortable.”
Contestant Woei was in a race against time to prepare his food in five minutes to present to Gregg and John.
He told the show’s floor manager, “Under control, don’t worry, the sauce is ready.” Hopefully it won’t blow John and Gregg away in the heat.’

Shock: Shocked viewers took to Twitter to complain about the dish
Despite his finished meal looking delicious, it was quickly rejected by Gregg, who said he wouldn’t be able to eat it.
Woei served marinated chicken with tomato-chili sauce with blue basmati rice and tempura curry leaves.
It started well, as John told him, ‘I like that sauce. Rich and buttery, sweet with tomato and nice chilli heat running through it.
‘That thing with the curry leaf, it’s nice and crispy, but because they’re curry leaves, they stay pretty greasy.’
Then, Gregg initially praised the dish for its “light and fluffy rice,” before moving on to the “undercooked chicken.”

Not impressed: Things got off to an awkward start, though, when Greg told one of the contestants that the “undercooked” chicken made him feel “uncomfortable”
Gregg admitted to feeling “uncomfortable” and explained, “I’m having trouble with this chicken. there is a pink tint to the inside of my chicken pieces which puts me off.
‘They’re undercooked. Not all, but enough to make me feel uncomfortable.’
Woei took the comment on the chin and said: ‘You also have to learn how to deal with criticism. Resilience is the most important part of life.’
However, Woei has progressed to the next stage of the competition with three other hopefuls.
