MasterChef stars Adam Liaw and Poh Ling Yeow launch new cooking show as they travel Down Under in search of Australia’s national dish
Adam Liaw and Poh Ling Yeow team up again for the big new SBS television project Great Australian Bites.
The dream team are reunited after their huge success on Malaysia in Australia, which premiered in 2021 Yahoo lifestyle on Friday.
After becoming fast friends over a decade ago competing on consecutive seasons of MasterChef, the celebrity chefs are on the hunt for local cuisine.
‘The premise is very simple: what is Australia’s national dish?’ Adam, 44, said.
“We think of other countries and other cuisines and we kind of forget that Australian cuisine is first and foremost great and also completely unique.”

The Malaysian-born chef went on to say that he and Poh, 49, plan to travel the country and try a variety of dishes as they try to define Australian cuisine.
“We’re talking kebabs, we’re talking spaghetti bolognese, we’re talking roast lamb — we’re looking at the everyday foods that ordinary people make every day.”
Adam said he is also incredibly excited to be working with his dear friend Poh again as they “get along really well” during filming.

The first time Adam and Poh appeared on camera together was on their first SBS food show Malaysia in Australia which premiered in October 2021.
Each episode, the culinary greats sought out the freshest Australian produce while recreating popular Malaysian dishes such as beef rendang and roti canai.
Between their cook-offs, fans got expert tips from Malaysian expats, farmers and even Hollywood superstar Remy Hii.

“This is Poh and I’s first time in front of the camera together, so making this series has been a lot of fun,” Adam said in a statement at the time.
“It is also a valuable opportunity to highlight the connections between Australia and Malaysia, two countries that share a long history and are so special to both of us.”
Meanwhile, Poh said she was especially excited to combine the best of both Australian produce and Malaysian flavours.
“We have such great products right here in our own backyard, but what always amazes me is how even the smallest places can create wonderful experiences.”
