MasterChef star Matt Preston is sparking a huge debate over his very bizarre hot cross bun recipe

Famed food critic Matt Preston whipped his fans into a frenzy on Friday by sharing his one-of-a-kind Easter bun creation.

The MasterChef star, 61, specially prepared a hot cross bun for breakfast, filled with bacon and marmalade.

He posted a photo of the meal on Instagram, sparking a huge debate among his followers.

“It’s been ten years since I first realized that bacon and orange marmalade belonged first thing in the morning in a warm cross bun. It’s strictly a once a year thing,” he wrote.

“That bacon is sticking its tongue out in disdain,” one fan joked.

He has openly discussed how he is embracing a healthier diet and exercise regimen after previously tipping the scales at 140kg.

“It’s all about a healthy lifestyle, but the hardest part is having time to go to the gym,” he shared The Daily Telegraph shortly after leaving the reality cooking series.

“I firmly believe that you must have a trainer. If you want to get to the point where you can’t lift your car keys because your arms are so tired, it’s hard to do it yourself,” he continued, adding that he had found a “brilliant” trainer.

Matt is happily married to wife Emma and they have three children together.
