MasterChef insider reveals what really happens to all the cooked food in the long-running reality series

A MasterChef insider has revealed that contestants and show crew members often get doggy bags after a cooking challenge.

According to a report in Now to love on Tuesdays, doggie bags are common on the show after their signature high-pressure cooking sessions.

The judges take a bite, the contestants nibble, and what’s left is encouraged to take home and eat.

Judge Melissa Leong recently spoke to publication Stuff and said she often only takes one bite of the dishes presented.

“When something is particularly delicious, sometimes it’s really hard not to go back for a second, third, or fourth bite,” she confessed.

“But part of the job is restraint.”

Melissa added that she often doesn’t have to eat lunch or dinner during judging days because she does most of her eating on camera.

It comes amid news that Jamie Oliver will be a guest judge on the show’s new season, which premieres May 1.

“I am very, very excited to be back in the MasterChef Australia kitchen, and honored to kick off the new season of Secrets & Surprises with Jock, Andy and Mel,” Jamie said in a statement.

He added, “I want to give participants a few little bits of advice, some techniques, and most importantly some thoughts, that can help them navigate some of the big moments ahead.”

In a fun teaser clip from his upcoming appearance on the show, Jamie is introduced to the contestants who erupt in cheers and applause for the superstar chef as he walks on set.
