MasterChef Australia contestant Theo Loizou reveals how he lost 50kg and why a trip to a menswear store prompted him to take action after tipping the scales at 125kg
MasterChef Australia contestant Theo Loizou has revealed his dramatic transformation.
The electrician, 37, was overweight in his early 20s but managed to lose nearly 50kg by adopting a healthy lifestyle.
He said at the time that his diet consisted of “whatever I wanted” and that a serious back injury prevented him from exercising.
He explained that a sobering trip to the menswear section of the department store helped him understand that his weight was out of control and he needed to take action.
“I’ve lost 100 pounds and kept it off since I was about 23,” he shared Women’s Day.

“I remember going to a store to buy a t-shirt and the XXL was form-fitting. I didn’t realize I had grown so big.’
The reality star said he then made a commitment to eat healthy and exercise, walk and box regularly to get back in shape.
“It’s something you’re going to have to do for the rest of your life, so it better be something you love,” he added.
