MasterChef Australia winner announced after a gripping finale that saw chefs conquer 113 step dessert

Nat Thaipun won MasterChef Australia on Tuesday night in a thrilling final episode.

The Victorian chef emerged as the winner after creating a dessert in 113 steps, with no room for error.

“You had everything on your plate. It looked great. But when we ate it, surprisingly, there were textural errors,” the judges warned her.

But they added: ‘Luckily you made up for that with the taste.’

Nat needed 33 points to beat runner-up Josh ‘Pezza’ Perry and she narrowly crossed the finish line.

She received a 7 out of 10 from all five judges, including guest judge Clare Smyth, and won by two points.

The winner will receive chef training from leading professional chefs, the chance to have their own cookbook published, and $250,000 in cash.

From this week, she will also be serving her signature menu at Alumni Restaurant, Crown Melbourne.

When asked how she was feeling, Nat admitted, “I’m exhausted! I feel so good. This is… This is insane.

‘It feels like a dream, but it’s not. It’s just happening. I just won MasterChef!’

Second-place finisher Pezza was noble in her defeat and was awarded a $40,000 runner-up prize.

“I’m happy. Top two on MasterChef. Biggest cooking show in the world,” said the Tasmanian butcher.
