MasterChef judge Andy Allen breaks down as he shares the terrifying image he can’t get out of his head after Jock Zonfrillo’s death

Andy Allen has shared the terrifying image he can’t stop following the death of his co-star Jock Zonfrillo.

The MasterChef Australia judge told The Sunday Project that he is haunted by the loss Jock’s young son, Alfie, has suffered, and that he struggled several times during the interview to calm himself down.

‘The hardest part is… I can’t get Alfie’s little voice and face out of my head and say, ‘You’re my best friend, Daddy.’ He said it every day,” Allen revealed.

When asked by host Sarah Harris if Zonfrillo’s wife, Lauren Fried, is okay, Andy, who was fighting back tears, was honest.

‘Um no. No. She’s the strongest woman I’ve ever known, but she lost her best friend,” he said.

‘Jock has three daughters. And it’s things like never being able to walk them down the aisle. Which means so much to Jock. And so much for Lauren. Those are the things that hurt her the most.”

Drawn into his own grief, Andy said he spent more time with Jock on the set of MasterChef than he did in his own life, and they became very close, having met for a three-hour lunch just days away before Jock died.

“I’m going to miss everything this man brought to my life. He couldn’t wait [Allen’s wife] Alex and I also need to have children,” he said.

‘He couldn’t wait for that. He always said I would make a great dad. And I wish he was there to see that.’
