Massimiliano Allegri has been sacked by Juventus after actions the Turin club deemed ‘incompatible’ with their values.
The coach had achieved victory over Atalanta in the Coppa Italia final for the first time in two seasons on Wednesday. But the victory was marred by the 56-year-old’s behavior after the match.
A club statement noted ‘certain behaviour’ during and after the final that they deemed ‘incompatible’ with their values.
Allegri’s dismissal comes after he threatened and insulted a respected Italian journalist following Juventus’ 1-0 win over Atalanta.
The now former Juventus head coach was dismissed just before full-time after losing his temper on a technical level and reportedly continuing to express his anger towards the media.

Tuttosport editor Guido Vaciago (pictured) claims the Italian boss threatened to punch him in the face and pull out his ears during an angry altercation after Juventus’ win over Atalanta
According to Tuttosport Editor-in-chief Guido Vaciago confronted Allegri with threats and insults after the match, furious with the journalist for ‘not writing the truth’ in his newspaper.
Allegri is said to have said to him in anger: ‘S*** editor, write the truth in your newspaper, not what society tells you. Stop playing hustlers with society!”
Vaciago, who claims to have told Allegri to calm down, was then pushed and threatened by the Italian.
“I know where to find you,” Allegri allegedly added. ‘I’m coming, and I’m going to rip out both your ears. I’m coming to punch you in the face and write the truth in your newspaper.’
It is claimed that a Juventus press officer then intervened by restraining the manager and leading him away from the editor.
The stormy incident reportedly took place just before Allegri’s post-match press conference, with the Old Lady manager looking visibly emotional and struggling to hold back tears.
Tuttosport led on Thursday morning with the headline ‘Allegri wins the cup and goes crazy’. In the report, the newspaper describes his behavior as ‘despicable, intimidating and dangerous’.
On Thursday, De Allegri, through his lawyer, issued an official statement to the Italian news agency ANSA denying the claims.
‘[Allegri] Completely denies the reported version of events that took place in the Stadio Olimpico tunnel with the editor of Tuttosport, Guido Vaciago, specifying that it was simply “a heated, verbal altercation” in the heat of the moment with the editor, in which she both audibly offended each other.’
Furthermore, according to Sky Italia, simmering tensions with executives reached a boiling point after the victory at the Stadio Olimpico, leading to his hasty departure.

Tuttosport headlined ‘What a bad ending’ on Thursday morning in response to Allegri’s anger
The outlet claims Allegri angered management with his response “especially when he tried to keep sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli away from team celebrations.”
Allegri’s second departure from the Allianz Stadium ends under a cloud, having just lifted the first trophy of his second spell at the club.
His first was marked by continued success. In the five years from 2014, Juve won five league titles, four Italian cups and reached two Champions League finals.
Since his return in 2021 after a two-year break from management, his remit had changed due to the club’s financial and institutional problems. Allegri led Juve to a seventh-place finish last season.
While at one point this campaign his team looked ready to challenge Inter Milan for the title. However, a dismal run of just two wins in fifteen games leaves them 25 points behind their arch-rivals at the top.
In a strange twist of fate, his departure comes on the fifth anniversary of his departure from the Italian giants in 2019.
It is believed that Juventus have reached an agreement to sign Bologna boss Thiago Motta from next season. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the club had even investigated whether they had grounds for dismissal for just cause following the incident, with the manager possibly breaching the club’s code of conduct by allegedly crossing the line in such a way.
