Mason Mount set to triple his Chelsea salary at Man United, with deal worth £250,000-a-week

Mason Mount gets huge pay rise as he prepares to move from Chelsea to Man United… with the England star set to triple his salary at Old Trafford to £250,000 a week

Mason Mount sees his salary triple as he moves from Chelsea to Manchester United.

The Blues have agreed to sell the England international to their Premier League rivals for up to £60 million and it looks like Mount will benefit significantly financially by moving north.

Mount signs a five-year contract worth £250,000 a week at Old Trafford, with the option of a further year’s extension.

His move to United comes after his desire to see Chelsea increase his wages of £80,000 a week – after being named the club’s Player of the Year in 2020-21 and 2021-22 – was rejected.

The 24-year-old entered the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge, earning just a quarter of the amount before Erik ten Hag’s side came in.

Bonuses can even lead to Mount’s weekly pay rise of up to £300,000 depending on performance.

Mount was one of the ten Hag’s main transfer targets this summer, but Man United didn’t want to pay too much for him.

However, the Red Devils reopened talks with Chelsea earlier this week to try to finalize a deal that will see players return shortly for pre-season.

Mount made 195 senior appearances for Chelsea, a club he joined as a six-year-old, winning the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup with the West London club.

New Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino was an admirer of Mount and saw him fit well into his system at the club.

However, the Blues also have financial obligations, and being able to sell a youth talent for a significant sum will help balance the books after a year of chaotic spending under Todd Boehly.

Earlier this week, Mount and Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh met children with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses for a Make-A-Wish event in partnership with Disney.
