Mason Mount breaks silence with message to Man United fans after latest injury setback – after Ruben Amorim confirmed the star faces a ‘long’ layoff

Mason Mount has sent a message to Manchester United supporters after confirming he will be sidelined again with an injury.

Mount visited a specialist on Wednesday after leaving with a muscle injury less than 15 minutes after United’s Manchester derby win last weekend.

The midfielder was consoled by teammates as he left the field at the Etihad Stadium after his latest setback.

Mount has played in just 33 of a total of 77 games since joining United from Chelsea for £60 million last year.

Mount told Man United fans on Instagram that he is ‘devastated’ after the injury.

The England international issued a defiant message to supporters as he began his recovery.

Mount said he is ‘devastated’ following the injury, which looks set to keep him out for weeks

‘Words can’t describe how devastated I feel right now, you could probably see the look on my face when it happened. I knew what it meant,” Mount wrote.

“United fans, you may not know me very well, but I can guarantee one thing: I will never give up or lose faith.

“I’ve said this before, but I will continue to give it my all, get through this tough period and not stop until that is achieved.”

Mount’s message came after Man United boss Ruben Amorim revealed earlier on Friday that he expects the midfielder to face a ‘long’ layoff.

“A few weeks,” Amorim said at his press conference.

‘I don’t know the exact date, but it will be a long time. And that’s it, it’s part of football and you move on.

Man United boss Ruben Amorim said he will work with Mount during his recovery period

“What I can do is help Mase, teach him how to play our game when he is recovering. To try to use that time to think about other things.

‘I think the worst thing is that we don’t have time to train as we should, while you are recovering from many injuries.

‘We are going to help him with Mason Mount. It’s really hard for a player to be out for so long and he’s doing his best, the same goes for me.

“If they try very hard, we will help them to the end.”
