Mason Greenwood has been pictured in Getafe colors for the first time since joining Manchester United on loan.

The Spanish club does not pay a fee for the English striker, but does pay a small contribution towards his wages for the duration of the loan.

Greenwood has not played league football since December 2021, having been arrested in January 2022 on suspicion of a number of criminal offences, including attempted rape.

The 21-year-old was subsequently suspended by the club, but in February the Crown Prosecution Service dropped the charges after crown witnesses backed down and new material came to light.

And now, after sealing a temporary move to Spain, the first images of Greenwood sporting the club’s colors have appeared on social media.

The club’s official Twitter page shared an image of Greenwood in Getafe colors on Monday night, following his shock move to Spain.

The winger had a smile on his face as he held up the club’s home strip and posed next to a large version of their club badge.

It was confirmed on Monday that the winger will wear the number 12 for LaLiga this season.

Getafe posted a video of cheering fans on social media after news broke that he would be joining the Madrid club this season. Last season, the club finished fifteenth in the Spanish top division.

There was also interest in signing Greenwood from Lazio, Olympiacos and Red Star Belgrade before making the move to Spain.

Lazio held extensive talks on deadline day last Friday about signing the attacker, but ran out of time to finalize a deal with United.
