At 21, Mary Fowler has already achieved more than many footballers do in their entire sporting career.

Two World Cups with the Matildas, an Olympic Games in 2021 and a Women’s Super League contract with English giants Manchester City.

But Fowler remains modest, and on Friday she took to Instagramacknowledging how “grateful” she is to be living the life of a globally recognized professional athlete.

Her photo dump included a loved-up photo with her boyfriend – NRL superstar Nathan Cleary – and a celebration with her teammates after qualifying for the Paris Olympics against Uzbekistan this week.

Fowler is also spotted posing for a photo with Australian sporting legend Cathy Freeman, who won gold in the 400m track at the Sydney Olympics.

She met Cleary in Melbourne this week as the high-profile sports couple continued their long-distance relationship.

They have been rumored to have been dating since August before finally becoming official in January.

Cleary – who won the NRL virtual grand final for the Panthers himself in October – is a private person, but acknowledged in a recent interview that his love life is now an ongoing topic of conversation for many fans.

“It (media attention) comes with the territory. It’s something I have no control over,” he said.

“I just have to move on and not read too much into it.”

It is believed Fowler is now back in England, but this week the winger found the back of the net in Australia’s 10-0 win over hapless Uzbekistan on Wednesday night.

The result sealed Australia’s place at the Paris Olympics in July, where Tony Gustavsson’s selection looms as a genuine medal opportunity.
