Marvel’s X-Men 97 gets an official Disney Plus release date and an exciting, nostalgic trailer
Marvel Studios has finally revealed when it is X Men 97 TV series are debuting on Disney Plus – and their arrival isn’t far away.
Confirmed at the end of the Disney Plus show’s official trailer, which was released today (February 15), Marvel unveiled its spiritual successor to X-Men: The Animated Series will start Wednesday March 20. At the time of writing this, that is just over a month – 34 days, to be precise –.
As for the trailer itself, it’s a nostalgic first look that will delight fans of the iconic mutant team’s first animated adventure. The first trailer for the Marvel Phase 5 show not only opens with a nod to classic Saturday morning cartoon ads, but also begins with a brief look at the final minutes of The animated series‘ last episode. Don’t worry, though: the nearly two-minute running time isn’t spent on a harrowing walk down memory lane – indeed, the teaser quickly cuts to footage from the X Men‘s newest animated series, Show Off X Men 97 in all its cell-shaded glory.
If you were worried about that X Men 97 may not live up to the high expectations of its ancestor, there is no need to worry. There’s a lot to like about the first teaser, including a Wolverine-Gambit team-up that sees the latter infuse the former’s adamantium claws with his kinetic, charge-based abilities, and an onslaught of Oliver Trask’s iconic mutant-killing weapons known as the Sentinels.
Oh, and for those wondering: yes, the legendary “To me, my X-Men!” line is spoken during the trailer (Cyclops says it), and there’s an updated version of it X-Men: The Animated Series‘ beloved opening title track from the 1990s, complete with starry synth notes and booming guitar riff. Colour. Us. Excited.
