Marvel Rivals season 1 patch notes reveal surprising improvements and welcome nerfs

Season 1 of Marvel Rivals launches later this week, bringing two members of the Fantastic Four to the Marvel-themed multiplayer hero shooter. Friday’s update also brings a long list of changes to virtually every playable Marvel superhero and villain, including many much-needed tweaks to characters like Hawkeye, Hela, and Thor.

Lots of it Marvel Rivals balance adjustments in season 1 come in the form of more or less health for characters. For example, Hela has her health reduced to 250 because, according to the game developer, she is a ‘threat’. But some heroes, like Hawkeye, will do less damage, at least in the medium to long term. Thor will now be virtually unstoppable as he unleashes his God of Thunder ultimate, which can no longer be interrupted by crowd control abilities. Mantis gets a passive movement boost, while Rocket gets a healing buff and a boost to his Team Up with Punisher and Winter Soldier.

There is also a good chance that you will be less engulfed by Jeff the Land Shark.

Marvel Rivals players will want to familiarize themselves with all the changes coming later this week as they welcome their new protagonist, Invisible Woman (and Malice).

Marvel Rivals Season 1 Patch Notes for January 10th

Captain America
Steve gains improved survivability, allowing him to get in and out of battle more often.
– Reduced the shield recovery delay time after releasing Living Legend from 3s to 2s.
– Shortened the cooldown of Liberty Rush from 12 seconds to 10 seconds.
– Increase base health from 650 to 675.
– Reduce energy cost for releasing Freedom Charge (ultimate ability) from 3400 to 3100; Decrease the extra health you get to yourself per second after releasing it from 110 to 100.

Doctor Strange
We will reduce the threat range and increase the defense window of the Sorcerer Supreme.
– Add damage to Maelstrom of Madness and Gamma Maelstrom. Starting at 5 meters and reducing to 70% at 8 meters.
– Slightly reduce shield value recovery speed after releasing Shield of the Seraphim from 80/s to 70/s.

Thor
The God of Thunder could use a little more survivability and improve the success rate to his final skill.
– Increase base health from 500 to 525.
– Added immunity to check effects during God of Thunder (Ultimate Skill).

Hulk
Dr. Banner has been dominant, but reduced sustained combat ability when entering the battlefield will put him more on par with other Vanguards.

Poison

Storm
