Possible spoilers follow for Deadpool and Wolverine.
It’s been less than 36 hours since then (at the time of writing). Deadpool 3The film’s first trailer was released and Marvel fans have been poring over the footage to dig up every Easter egg they could find.
As big fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), we are among the millions who watched the official teaser of Deadpool and Wolverine – the actual title of the film – several times. Indeed, you only have to look at ours Deadpool and Wolverine trailer analysis to get an idea of how determined we’ve been to uncover its biggest secrets.
However, we’re not afraid to admit that we missed two potentially big character reveals in the first trailer. There’s one we’re not entirely convinced of, despite the fan fervor surrounding their apparent inclusion; the other, however, seems quite legitimate to us.
This is your final spoiler warning: potentially major character spoilers ahead Deadpool 3 are discussed after the picture below.
The first character – a legendary supervillain no less – is someone we mentioned in our Deadpool and Wolverine piece of trailer breakage. The person in question? Doctor Doom, one of the Fantastic four‘s (and the Marvel Universe’s most iconic and complex big bads).
At the 1:45 mark of the Marvel Phase 5 movie teaser, a mysterious character, closely resembling Doom’s famous attire, is seen standing atop a vehicle with a retractable satellite dish on top. Considering the character’s costume – complete with metal armor, plus a green cloak and hood – it didn’t take long for Marvel fans to theorize that Doom was finally ready to make his MCU bow. Deadpool 3.
Further evidence of Doom’s possible inclusion can be glimpsed via a brief shot of a comic book in the Deadpool 3 final moments of the trailer. This concerns Secret Wars #5 from 2015, on which Doom graces the cover. We know that one Secret Wars The film will be released as part of Marvel Phase 6 and will likely bring the curtain down on Marvel’s Multiverse Saga. Nevertheless, MCU fanatics also believe that this is a strong hint in which Doom will appear Deadpool and Wolverineeither as the character we described earlier, or in some other guise.
Someone answer me?!!!!! IS THIS DOCTOR DOOM??????!!!!! #Deadpool #MarvelStudios #marveljesus #Deadpool3Trailer pic.twitter.com/o2bq7WRflzFebruary 12, 2024
Personally, I’m not convinced that the person shown in the trailer is Doom, and I don’t believe he will appear in the trailer either. Deadpool 3. A character of this magnitude, with as rich a comic history as any Marvel villain, deserves to be introduced in a Fantastic four movie, and/or as the new overarching threat in the MCU’s next saga.
I think this is just a clever bit of marketing on Marvel’s part – the Disney subsidiary knows full well that a character wearing a similar outfit to Doom’s would get fans talking, creating hype. for the only Marvel movie of 2024. It’s a good bet. the part of the fanbase, but I’d be surprised if this individual ended up being a new version of Doom, or even a version we’ve seen before (Julian McMahon or Toby Kebbell’s iterations, respectively) in Fox’s 2005 and 2015 Fantastic four movies.
However, there’s another big character Easter egg that we all missed in the teaser – and it involves a very specific Deadpool variant: Lady Deadpool, aka Wanda Wilson.
As spotted by X/Twitter user Thiago Romariz and later picked up by the Brazilian outlet Chippu, which has an earlier form for breaking Marvel news before other websites, there is a very brief shot of what appears to be Lady Deadpool in the film’s trailer. At 1:49 we see someone – assumed by almost everyone to be Deadpool – wielding two Uzis. However, the gloves this person wears are different from Deadpool’s, as Romaiz notes in his tweet (see below).
Unless he undergoes a costume change at some point in his threequel, this can’t be Deadpool. And as comic readers know, Lady Deadpool prefers using Uzis to pistols – the latter being Deadpool’s firearms of choice. Add the dots together and it’s pretty clear that Lady Deadpool will play a role Deadpool 3.
So, who could play the female version of Deadpool? One option is Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds’ wife. Reynolds is the actor who brought Deadpool to life on the big screen, so it makes sense that he enlists his fellow star and talented friend to make a fun cameo.
Pop megastar Taylor Swift, who has long been rumored to be popping up in Deadpool and Wolverine, is another candidate. MCU leakers have claimed that she will play the mutant known as Dazzler; but what if they’re wrong and she plays Lady Deadpool instead? Imagine the buzz a pre-release would generate, not to mention the amount of money Marvel would surely make if ‘Swifties’ flocks to theaters to see the powerhouse singer-songwriter in an MCU film.
Of Deadpool and Wolverine not in theaters until July 26, there’s plenty of time to continue speculating – and if I were Marvel I’d be enjoying the amount of conjecture and theorizing going on right now, especially after a tense twelve months for entertainment behemoth .
