Marty Sheargold is returning to his Triple M breakfast show after being off air for three months due to what is being described as a mental health break.

The radio personality will return to the helm of The Marty Sheargold Show on Monday, January 15, a spokesperson for Southern Cross Austereo confirmed on Friday.

Earlier this year, the 52-year-old officially announced an 'extended break' from work following an alleged incident during the AFL Grand Final.

Sheargold returned to the spotlight last year when he appeared in a photo by Anthony 'Lehmo' Lehmann, which showed the men enjoying a Christmas lunch.

β€œIt's the first Christmas lunch for the sexy bald man club #helloladies,” Anthony wrote.

Lehmann filled in on the Marty Sheargold Show while Sheargold was away.

Also pictured were Tom Gleeson, Adam Rozenbachs and Titus O'Reily.

Sheargold recently returned to his stand-up roots as he stars alongside comedians Mick Molloy, Lawrence Mooney and Sam Pang for a special event called The Comedians at the Geelong Arts Center in February.

According to a promo, the all-star show is “No-holds-barred, old-school stand-up comedy.”

“Radio, television, film, podcasts, they've done it all and now they're bringing all the fun to the stage.”

In November, Sheargold's show scored a ratings increase in his absence, with an audience share of 7.2 percent, up 1.4 percent from the previous survey.

The Marty Sheargold Show previously received a 5.8 rating, putting it in eighth place in the Melbourne breakfast radio market.

Sheargold's producer Loren Barry was in Sydney in October as one of the presenters of the ACRA Awards.

She told The Herald Sun that Sheargold would be back and assured the show's listeners that 'everything is fine'.

β€œHe's just taking some time, he's just spending some time with his family, but we're all doing well,” Barry said.

'Everything is fine. We'll be back.'

She also highlighted the grueling life behind the microphone, saying: 'Working in breakfast radio just makes you really tired. It's very tiring work.”

Marty also stars in the ABC sitcom Fisk, which was picked up by Netflix and has taken off in the UK and US.

SCA told the Ny Breaking that they “look forward to Marty's return in 2024.”
