In February 2022, Martine revealed that it’s taken her “so long to do what works for (her)” when she opened up about her health and staying in shape.
In an interview with OK! magazine, the Love Actually star noted that she didn’t like talking about her weight, but opened up about how she stays in shape by following the 80/20 rule diet.
Discussing her frame, Martine shared that it wasn’t always easy to find the right healthy eating style that works for her, with the star stating the importance of simply being the ‘best version’ of herself.
She said, “I think it takes a long time to figure out what your own prescription is. It’s taken me so long to sort through all the things out there and do exactly what works for me. So it’s not as simple as just following a crazy diet. I just think it’s really important to encourage women to just be the best versions of themselves.”
Opening up about her diet, she added: ‘The 80/20 rule is what works for me. For 80% of my week I mainly eat only healthy proteins, vegetables and fruit, organic and vegetable juices and Flora ProActiv spread. And then 20% of the time I get a treat.’
She talks about how she indulges in pizza, chocolate or a G&T on special occasions, and notes that she doesn’t feel guilty because she spends most of the week doing ‘good things for my heart’.
The mum-of-one also said she keeps fit by walking her dogs every day after the school run, with the outings being good for ‘my mind and my health’.

Martine shared her latest health struggles with her followers, before revealing the ‘ritual’ she’s relied on for decades to lift her spirits.
In a post on her Instagram Stories, Martine said: ‘If you’re ever feeling under the weather (like I am right now – oh laryngitis, you’re just the best!) I highly recommend the following ritual – I’ve been doing this for decades and I swear it will improve your mood.
‘Run a warm bubble bath, light some nice candles, play your favorite music for your current mood and then put on some lipstick and the biggest damn pair of chandelier earrings you can find!
‘Lie in the bath, hold a champagne or wine glass (whatever you like) and pour yourself something nice and chilled to drink and then stop for a moment, take a nice deep breath. And exhale. Repeat a few times. Let it all go. Elizabeth Taylor will eat your heart out.”
Laryngitis occurs when the vocal cords or cords in the throat become irritated or swollen, and usually goes away on its own within 1 to 2 weeks.
Methods to reduce symptoms include talking as little as possible, drinking plenty of fluids and not smoking.
