‘To be honest, I felt completely ‘blah’ and didn’t feel like it at all! But she didn’t give up on me, and she was right! We had SO much fun! Whoop! Whoop!

‘We were the last ones there (oh yeah! Turns out Martine still has it!) A couple we met were so nice too and apparently they’ve been following my career and my insta for years (great taste obvs!)

‘So a huge shout out to them – Thank you for the lovely compliments, caring and for making my head swell to the size of Brazil!

‘And Samantha, you know it’s not easy to break up after 18 years. There are even facets that can feel cruel… Mutual ‘friends’ have become silent, or have clearly taken sides when that was never the case. asked! But I’m so lucky to have you!

“You are a gracious, honest, loving, thoughtful friend and you show them all how it’s done, darling!

“Thank you for being so wonderful to me, Rafferty and Jack and for taking the time to make me feel seen and heard. It means so much! I love you “Mate!”’

Martine recently revealed that she lost her mind during her relationship and shared how she is learning to love herself again.

She explained that she was trying to remind herself that she had enough after a difficult year.

The Love Actually star also explained that she previously felt pressured to meet the standards of others and was now much happier ‘saying no’ and being herself.

In the podcast The Showercast, Martine said: ‘I was always enough, I was always kind, I didn’t have to be all those things I thought I had to be.

“I definitely think everyone thinks their version of you is the right version of you and that’s not just something that happens when you’re famous or in the public eye. It can happen within families.’

The star went on to explain that she felt shaped by other people’s expectations and had previously been labeled as “difficult.”

She said, “They can project onto you that you’re the difficult one, or that you’re the black sheep of the family, or that you’re the star, or that you’re the one who holds everything together.

“And I would tell myself and everyone I loved that you are more than anyone else’s projections, all the lazy labels.

“That may be their favorite part of you or their favorite version of you, but you are more than one thing. You are complex, you are complicated, you have many facets and you owe it to yourself to be completely yourself, no excuses.’

She wrote in a statement: “After much thought and consideration, Jack has decided that it is best for us to part ways after 18 years together and I accept his decision.”

Discussing her post-breakup struggles, Martine admitted that anxiety turned her into a “recluse.”

She recalled feeling like she was “going crazy” as she was overcome with “tremendous anxiety” while dealing with symptoms of perimenopause.

In an interview with BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, Martine revealed: ‘I didn’t want to answer my phone.

‘I didn’t want to open the front door, go out and then out of nowhere I panicked and had to pull over while I was driving because I felt this enormous fear and couldn’t breathe.

‘I really felt like I was going crazy. I didn’t know if it was real or if it was a perimenopausal thing.”

She added: ‘It just came out of the blue and when I spoke to my specialist about it she said, “You know this is unfortunately the case for a lot of women.”

The couple married in Italy’s picturesque Lake Como in 2012, five years after they started dating.

Elsewhere in the podcast, Martine revealed that she was ‘told I could never have children’ when she opened up about becoming a mother to her son Rafferty.

Martine said holding Rafferty for the first time was “above and beyond” anything she had ever done in her career or life before that moment.

The actress explained how she “always felt like being a mother would be her driving force” and after meeting her bundle of joy for the first time, she felt “no love like this.”

In the wellness podcast, Martine said: ‘The best part was holding my son for the first time. I was told I would never be able to have children and I always felt that being a mother would be my foundation.”
