Martina Navratilova appears at BIRTHDAY party days after beating breast and throat cancer
After destroying her opponents on the tennis court, Martina Navratilova has also conquered her worst adversary yet: cancer.
Last weekend, the legendary tennis ace made her first social appearance at the 100th birthday party of her best friend Peter Thomas Roth’s mother, Carole Roth, in Miami since overcoming the illness.
In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com, the skincare mogul Peter said: “Martina was in high spirits, mingling with the guests and allowing them to take selfies with her.”
Martina, 66, who was battling breast and throat cancer, revealed last week that she is now “cancer free”.
Peter said he had “kidnapped” the Wimbledon champion and her wife, Julia Lemigova, from their New York home for six weeks while she underwent state-of-the-art cancer treatment. “We hid her in her house so she could use proton therapy,” he explained.
State-of-the-art technology is only available in certain states and costs hundreds of thousands of dollars.

In January, Martina, 66, revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast and throat cancer for the second time.
She confirmed that doctors had found an enlarged lymph node in her neck during the WTA finals in Fort Worth in November, with tests later confirming the diagnosis.
She had previously beaten breast cancer in 2010 and was afraid she would not see Christmas 2023 after it returned.
After her revelation, the tennis player, who won 59 major titles in a four-decade career, received an outpouring of support.
In an emotional interview with Piers Morgan last week, Martina told the Talk TV presenter that she is now “cancer free” and should be “good to carry on” after undergoing radiation treatment, though adding that beating the illness was ‘the hardest thing’. .
Despite this, Martina is already back on the Miami social scene with a brisk step.
Peter said: “She was the picture of health and was dancing in her seat for six hours – you couldn’t put a knife between Martina and Mum, they’re so close.”

Now that she’s cancer-free, Martina is back on the Miami social scene and seems to have a spring in her step.
Despite Martina’s surprise appearance, centurion Carole Roth stole the show by creating a stir when she blew out the candles on her 24-karat gold 8-tier cake that was presented to her by a group of male strippers.
Fashion designer Libbie Mugrabi, ex-wife of billionaire Andy Warhol, art collector David Mugrabi, also made an appearance at the glitzy soiree.
Martina’s appearance at the party thrilled Carole Roth and her son, skin care mogul Peter Thomas Roth.
But it was Centurion Carole Roth who really stole the show.
It is said that she created quite a stir when she blew out a hundred candles on an eight-tiered 24-carat gold cake, which was presented to her by a group of male strippers.
Dripping down $3 million in diamonds, Peter says his mother told him she wanted him to “get me the biggest diamonds I have.”
But she explained that her mother’s taste was synonymous with the glamorous women of her heyday: “She comes from the Zsa Zsa Gabor era.”
Perhaps explaining Martina’s long stay at the party, the guests were told in no uncertain terms that they were not allowed to leave the party until Carole called her one night.
And to the surprise of many of the guests, the 100-year-old man stayed up until 4 am.

Peter said the key to his mother’s longevity is bread and butter along with “lots of vodka and her food is usually undercooked.”
She also supplies her mom with gallons of Peter’s Retinol Fusion PMI each month, which her mom debuts on QVC on April 4.
A divorced father of two, Peter has previously dated the late actress Anne Heche and Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife Brooke Mueller. The skincare mogul is the only child of Carole, who survived a Hungarian concentration camp when she was just a teenager.
