Martin Odegaard took time out of his post-game relaxation after Arsenal’s hard-fought victory over Newcastle on Sunday to face-time Gunners supporters on the train back to London.

The Gunners captain opened the scoring in the 2-0 win over Tyneside as Arsenal continued to press Premier League leaders Manchester City, who are just one point clear at the top of the table.

Odegaard has now scored three goals in his last two appearances to help Mikel Arteta’s side win again after an earlier three-match winless spell.

Arsenal supporters who had made the nearly 300-mile journey from London to St James’ Park were already in a boisterous mood on their way home, but were given a helping hand from their club’s leader.

Odegaard appears on a supporters phone for a facetime call and appears to be communicating with fans who are surprised to see the Norwegian looking back at them on the phone.

The fan who somehow came into contact with the 24-year-old shows his phone in the train carriage as Arsenal fans salute the midfielder’s efforts.

Some supporters give their thumbs up to the camera while others clap and cheer as Odegaard beams back at them, clearly in good spirits after beating Newcastle.

His post-match actions on Sunday come after Arsenal players were previously criticized for poor fan engagement following their 2-2 draw with West Ham in April.

Players barely interacted with a young girl who was the team’s mascot at the London stadium, with Odegaard, one of those involved keeping his earphones in as he signed an Arsenal shirt before the game.

However, he seems to have learned from that mistake and now interacts with fans on an unprecedented level rarely seen elsewhere.

Amazed spectators on social media couldn’t believe what they saw, but praised the Arsenal star for taking time out to give traveling fans a memorable moment.

Another added: ‘That’s leadership at its best! Right right captain and an even better player!’

Others praised Odegaard, adding, “That’s just great!” Fantastic captain Odegaard shows his respect for the away fans of Super Arsenal. That’s class.’

Declan Rice also made headlines in the wake of West Ham’s victory over Manchester United on Sunday for giving his shirt to an emotional Hammers fan.
