Martin Lawrence offered fans a brief update on his friend Jamie Foxx’s medical condition as he received his long-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Foxx, 55 (born Eric Marlon Bishop), was hospitalized in Atlanta last week while filming his movie Back in Action after an unspecified “medical complication.”
Lawrence, 58, was asked about his friend’s condition in an interview with Additional on Thursday, revealing he’s heard Foxx is progressing well.
“Well, I hear he’s doing better… I pray for him every night and wish him well,” Lawrence began.
He added that Foxx is “one of the best we’ve got in Hollywood, not just one of the best entertainers, but a good human being.”

Foxx’s 29-year-old daughter Corinne Foxx first shared the news of her father’s medical condition last Wednesday with a statement on her Instagram.
“We wanted to share that my dad, Jamie Foxx, had a medical complication yesterday,” she began.
“Fortunately, with quick action and good care, he is already on the road to recovery,” she continued.
“We know how loved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family requests privacy during this time,” the statement concluded.
Foxx was in Atlanta filming his new Netflix movie Back in Action with Cameron Diaz when the medical complication occurred.
Shortly after Foxx’s medical condition was first announced, Lawrence took to Instagram to send his friend his best wishes.
“My family and I lift you up in prayer. Much love and many blessings, my brother,” Lawrence said, tagging Foxx.
It was reported last week that the actor only had eight days left to shoot on the movie, with his co-star Cameron Diaz later filming with a stand-in.

It was also reported earlier this week that the actor is ‘steadily improving’ although he is still in hospital and undergoing tests, although no further details about his diagnosis were given.
While Foxx and Lawrence never worked on a movie together, there were plans in 2009 to make a movie starring his Sheneneh character from his popular sitcom Martin and Foxx’s Wanda character from In Living Color, though it never materialized.
Lawrence was joined by longtime friends Tracy Morgan, Tichina Arnold, Lynn Whitfield and Steve Harvey at the Walk of Fame ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard on Thursday.
When asked what it meant to receive this illustrious honor, Lawrence said, ‘Well, I’m really honored. I feel so blessed and I thank God for this honor and recognition.”
He admitted that a star on the Walk of Fame was “something I’ve always wanted,” while honoring some of the great black comedians who inspired him.
“Richard Pryor was my first encounter with the desire to be in the business and want to do this. He inspired me, him and Eddie Murphy,” Lawrence added.
“Just following what they’ve done has allowed me to progress in mine, so I’m very grateful and grateful,” added Lawrence.
He also praised Steve Harvey and Tracey Morgan, adding, “means so much to me” that they joined him, adding that they’two people who speak the truth… and I respect them immensely.”
‘It’s not a bull with them, so they’re going to tell you how they feel. They’re going to tell you how they see it, and I couldn’t wish for better people to speak to,” he added.
Lawrence is currently filming Bad Boys 4 with Will Smith, with the actor teasing, “Wait until you guys see this one.” Maybe even bigger than them all. You should check it out.’
