Martin Brundle has revealed that Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt has been in touch to explain why he turned down the Sky Sports presenter during his infamous grid walk.
The 58-year-old actor was present all weekend at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, when he planned to make a film about Formula 1.
However, he was criticized by the sport’s fans for giving legendary driver and TV pundit Brundle the cold shoulder before Sunday’s race.

Brundle tried to interview Pitt, although the star of films like Bullet Train, Fight Club and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood kept walking and seemed in a hurry to get away from the F1 personality.
However, the Sky Sports pundit has now posted a message on Twitter saying that Pitt was “nice” to message him.
He wrote: “I got a note from Brad Pitt explaining what happened to our near miss on the Austin grid. Unnecessary, but nice of him.
“Absolutely no one is obliged to talk to me on the grid, but since I am trying to do 10/12 minutes of live and unscripted sports TV, I am obliged to at least ask.”
Brundle is known for his grid walks where he tries to get hold of big names for interviews.
Pitt will reportedly star as a washed-up driver turned team owner and returning to the cockpit in an upcoming movie based on the sport.
Brundle tried to ask Pitt about his blockbuster movie in the making, but the movie star quickly shut it down.
Pitt claimed it was top secret when he started turning his back on Bundle and walking on.
Brundle then added that he’d seen Pitt quite a bit all week and asked if he’d enjoyed his time at the Grand Prix, to which the A-Lister simply replied, ‘Thank you, man’ and kept walking away.
The Sky Sports pundit then joked, “Of course they’re known as Pitt stops, if they don’t want you to talk to Brad Pitt.”
Legendary Oscar-nominated actor Pitt was on hand all weekend and was pictured in the Mercedes garage on Sunday, where he greeted his good friend Hamilton with Apple CEO Cook.

On Thursday night, Hamilton joined Pitt at the fanciest steakhouse in the state capital as Formula 1’s top executives hatch their next big screen greenhouse, for which Hamilton will act as a co-producer and advisor.
It’s hoped it will build on Netflix’s Drive to Survive series, which has attracted a new audience that now understands that what happens on the track is only a fraction of what this sport is about.
However, fans criticized Pitt for planning to star in the film without knowing who “the voice of the sport” is.

An F1 fan posted on Twitter: ‘Brad Pitt, you’re doing a film about F1 and don’t know who Martin Brundle is? It’s *the* grid walk. Stop and talk to him.’
Another said: ‘I hate it when celebrity bodyguards try to get Martin Brundle out. Boy you in F1 if you don’t want to be interviewed, don’t get on the grid…’
“Brad Pitt went into my book,” wrote another social media user. They added: ‘So disrespectful. When Martin Brundle approaches you on the grid, you stop and chat.’
