Martha Stewart scares camera crew for April Fools’ Day while Sarah Polley is pranked by her daughter
On this year’s April Fool’s Day, there were many celebrities as the pranksters behind the tricks, or those who were tricked.
For one, 44-year-old Sarah Polley was hilariously duped by her own son with an elaborate letter asking the Oscar-winning filmmaker to return her award, so she could give it to the ‘rightful’ nominee.
And in a clip shared on Instagram, 81-year-old Martha Stewart left her camera crew in shock by suddenly collapsing and appearing with a towel covered in blood while apparently filming.
The Martha Stewart Living founder went for an easy but effective practical joke using red food colouring, while Polley’s 11-year-old daughter Eve got ‘down’ with her hilarious prank.
Earlier this month, the screenwriter won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for her dramatic film, Talking Women.
Joke: For April Fool’s Day, Sarah Polley, 44, was hilariously tricked by her own son with an elaborate letter asking the Oscar-winning filmmaker to return her award, so she could give it to the nominee’ legitimate’.
Using that advantage, Eve wrote and delivered a long letter informing Polley that the committee awarded her the trophy in error.
In the written message, he wrote that the ‘legitimate’ Best Adapted Screenplay was actually Edward Berger’s All Quiet On The Western Front.
Polley took a snapshot of the letter and shared it on Twitter, writing: ‘My eleven year old son swung low for April Fool’s Day this year. #Day of the Innocents’.
‘Dear Sarah Polley,’ the letter began. “We tell you this with the deepest regret: the Oscar you received was delivered in error, you must return it.
We are giving you one more week to enjoy his presence in your home, but after that period of time you must mail it to Los Angeles.
In the note, Polley’s daughter claimed the letter was not a hoax despite being dated April Fool’s Day and even forging the signature of former Academy president David Rubin.
“We think it’s wrong for you to receive this on April 1st as you’ll probably think it’s a joke, and we think it’s wrong, so we’ll be sending you another letter assuring you this is not a joke,” Eve had written in The letter.
“This is too cruel to be a joke, ergo, we deeply apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused you,” the letter continued.
Understood! Earlier this month, the screenwriter had won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for her dramatic film, Talking Women, and using that advantage, Eve wrote and delivered a lengthy letter informing Polley that the committee he was given the trophy by mistake.
Playing along: Amusingly, Edward Berger, 53, the filmmaker the letter insisted was the “legitimate” award winner, also entertained the joke.
In the note written by Eve, the ‘Academy’ also claimed that they knew they had awarded her the Oscar in error at the ceremony but hesitated to act until now to avoid another Moonlight and La La Land situation.
Interestingly, Edward Berger, 53, the filmmaker the letter insisted was the ‘legitimate’ award winner, also entertained the joke.
“Dear Sarah, in order to save on shipping costs as I live abroad, the Academy has asked me to provide you with my address so you can send the Oscar directly,” he tweeted in response.
“I’ll follow up shortly,” he continued. ‘It’s OK with you? All the best, Edward.
In another comedic stunt, Stewart completely shocked the crew on set while apparently filming an arts and crafts segment.
The businesswoman posted the video to her Instagram Story, sharing with her 1.7 million followers how she ‘got’ them.
While showing off a product, Stewart suddenly turned away from the camera and apologized while holding her gaze.
He collapsed out of sight behind a counter, and when he got up, a bloody towel was pulled over his head.
