Martha Stewart says her ‘friendly’ pet peacocks ‘talk’ to her

Martha Stewart claims that her collection of twenty “friendly” pet peacocks talk to her.

The TV personality, 82, lives with the birds on her massive farm in upstate New York, and says talking to the pets is the only way to reach them.

Martha said, “They’re talking to me. Every time I go to their quarters, I talk to them. I say, “Awk, awk.”‘

While describing the birds as “very friendly, sociable and clean,” she shared People magazine: Some are shyer than others. Some are much bolder.

“Some are much more sensitive to their feathers ruffling and their tails flaring. I have a mix of males and females. And I breed them. They were all bred in my incubator.’

The sweet Instagram tribute comes just a year after the tragic loss of six of her “beautiful” peacocks, who were brutally killed by a pack of coyotes in her upstate New York home.

“The coyotes came in broad daylight and devoured him and five others, including the magnificent White Boy,” the New Jersey native revealed on Instagram, before asking her followers for tips on how to deal with coyotes.

The star said, ‘We no longer allow the peacock out of their garden,’ she shared, adding, ‘We close off the top of their large garden with wire fencing etc.’.

But the peacocks aren’t the only animal the businesswoman loves; she is also the proud owner of horses, poultry and several Chow Chow dogs.

The animal lover admitted in an article about her website that she owned at least 20 cats, 25 dogs, 10 chinchillas, dozens of canaries and parakeets, two ponies, three donkeys, 10 horses, many sheep and goats, hundreds of fowls, geese, turkeys, guinea fowls, quails, peacocks, and homing pigeons’.

This isn’t the first time tragedy has struck the Martha Stewart household; her beloved cat, Princess Peony, died last April after her dogs “mistaken her for an intruder” in an attempt to protect the reality star from danger.

Martha included an image of three men helping her dig a hole on her property, where the deceased feline would be buried.

Even Kris Jenner shared her support with a trio of crying emojis, while celebrity photographer Douglas Friedman wrote, “Martha…so sorry to hear this.”
