Martha Stewart has revealed she won’t be eating turkey on Thanksgiving this year – and even joked that her own home-grown birds have been ‘pardoned’.

The 83-year-old household mogul revealed she won’t be eating turkey during this year’s holidays, as she appeared on Today Thursday to share her recipe for Brioche Stuffed Roasted Squash.

“Even though I raise my own turkeys, they were pardoned this year,” Stewart revealed during the segment.

“We’re only going to do vegetarian food,” she continued, explaining that the brioche was great for the people in her house because she has to take care of “a lot of vegetarians” in her family.

On her Instagram page, Stewart often shows off her different types of livestock, such as chicken coops, and beautiful plants on her estate and farm in Bedford, New York, in Maine.

Although in the past it seems like the founder of Martha Stewart Omnimedia Living was excited about making a Thanksgiving turkey, with some special tips and tricks.

During a recent interview with PureedStewart shared her method for making a delicious turkey.

She said that after you have stuffed and buttered the turkey, you should wrap it in parchment paper and close it with a few staples before roasting it.

And about a half hour before it finishes roasting, she recommends taking it out of the oven and removing the parchment paper before putting it back in for the last few minutes.

“Then it almost becomes a Peking duck skin,” she revealed to the outlet. “I can’t tell you, it’s so damn good.”

This year, however, in addition to forgoing Turkey, Stewart won’t even be in the country for the holidays.

Instead, she goes to Rome, Italy, to celebrate Thanksgiving with her grandchildren.

“We decided the kids wanted to get away, the grandkids, and so we’re all packing up and going to Rome for a few days to visit the sites,” Stewart recently revealed to People.

Stewart has two grandchildren, granddaughter Jude, 13, and grandson Truman, 12, who are the children of her only daughter, Alexis.

And of course, the founder of Martha Stewart CBD has a fantastic trip planned for her family.

In fact, it’s so busy that Stewart joked that her grandchildren might get “angry” at her.

“We have an itinerary like that,” Stewart told the outlet.

‘My grandchildren will be mad at me. They think they are going on holiday for five days, but actually we are going to see everything. I have a whole trip planned.”

Although she will be out of the country for Thanksgiving, the mogul plans to jump right back into holiday hosting as soon as she gets back home.

And she told People that it’s important to have one specific treat for guests who come to your home during the holidays.

“If anyone comes over in the afternoon, you should have homemade Christmas cookies,” Stewart said.

“You just have to, and you have to have some dinner parties for your family and friends,” she continued.

She also admitted that there was ‘no time’ for family arguments during this period.

Instead, she likes to think ‘lightly’.

“I think the holidays are kind of a time when people come over to exchange gifts and have a little fun,” Stewart told the outlet.

‘I try to keep it very light and pleasant around the holidays. There is no room for family disputes during the holidays.’
