Martha Stewart has revealed what it was like to lose her virginity at the age of 19 to Andrew ‘Andy’ Stewart, who became her husband.
In her new Netflix documentary Martha, the 83-year-old revealed some secrets of her marriage, which ended in divorce in 1990.
She admitted to having a secret affair, and a friend claimed Andy also cheated on her with an associate in their Connecticut home.
However, earlier in the film, Martha looked back on the early days of her and Andy’s romance in the early 1960s.
Overwhelmed by the ‘exciting’ and ‘sophisticated young man’, Martha slept with him and has now shared: ‘He was very aggressive and I liked it.’

Martha met Andy through his sister, who was a classmate of hers at Barnard College and arrived at college every day in a Rolls-Royce.
Andy, then a student at Yale Law School, captured Martha’s imagination and won her affection on their very first date.
‘He picked me up in his little yellow Mercedes sedan. I had never been in a Mercedes before,” she recalls in the documentary.
‘We went out to eat. He was very polite and personable and he had traveled a lot. It was exciting to meet a sophisticated young man, and he had an American Express card, which was very important at that time. And he was just intriguing, playful and kind. By the end of dinner I was madly in love,” she served.
“Andy was so nice, not at all like my father,” said Martha, who previously recalled her father Edward Kostyra drinking red wine and coffee in the morning before work.
She recalled that Andy “would send me money for a train ticket, and I would visit him at Yale every weekend. I had never slept with anyone before. He was very aggressive and I liked that.”
When Andy “proposed,” Martha thought it “seemed so natural to fall in love and get married. But I went home and told my dad, and my dad hit me, and he hit me hard on the face and said, ‘No, you’re not marrying him. He is a Jew.” I remember getting that blow.”
She added: ‘I wasn’t surprised at all because he was a bigot and impulsive, but I said, “I’m getting married, whatever you think.”

The businesswoman’s first and only marriage is spotlighted in her new Netflix documentary Martha, released on October 30.
While the television personality recently opened up about having a secret affair of her own during the marriage, the film revealed she was devastated after discovering Andy cheated with an associate who lived at Turkey Hill Farm, the former couple’s home in Westport, Connecticut.
Martha’s friend Kathy Tatlock recalled that Andy’s infidelity made the tough “frantic” and that she hurt herself – and that she took out her frustrations on her other employees.
Kathy recalled, “There were rumors going around that Andy was somehow involved with the girl who did the flower arrangements at Turkey Hill Farm.
Martha Stewart was thrown into turmoil when she learned that her ex-husband, Andy Stewart, had cheated on her
The former couple married in 1961, but by 1987 they had separated
‘Martha picked up on everything and became increasingly upset.
“She would have panic attacks, migraines and insomnia. At one point she showed me where she ripped her hair out of her own head.
‘She was mean to her staff. She had lost control of Andy, so she made everyone pay.”
Speaking of her ex-husband’s mistress, Martha said the employee needed a place to stay, so she invited her to move into an apartment in a barn on their property.
“While I was traveling, Andy started with her,” she said. “It was like putting a snack in front of Andy.”
Martha claimed she confronted the woman.
She continued, “I immediately kicked her out. You know, ‘What the hell are you doing?'”
Reflecting on the heartbreak, Martha added, “Andy betrayed me, right on our turf. Not nice.’
Martha’s friend Kathy Tatlock recalled that Andy’s infidelity made Martha “frenetic.”
Martha started dating Andy – who has been her only husband to date – when she was just 19 and he was 23, after they set up a blind date.
The couple married in 1961. However, by 1987, the couple had separated and their divorce was finalized in 1990.
The couple shares daughter Alexis, whom they welcomed in 1965.
Kathy provided further insight into the marriage, saying that Martha and Andy “seemed more like colleagues than partners in life.”
She said: ‘Andy was extremely busy at his publishing house and whenever he was around it was always tense.
‘She was critical of him, in terms of what he wore or how he said something.
‘Andy has arranged her business arrangements over the years. They were much more colleagues than life partners.
“They were in different universes and when Martha wanted Andy to be present in her universe, he couldn’t be there.”
In the documentary’s trailer, Martha made the surprising admission that she also cheated on Andy during their marriage.
She began, “Young women, take my advice, if you are married and your husband starts cheating on you, he is a piece of shit. Get out of that marriage.”
But a producer soon called her out for being unfaithful as well.
“Didn’t you have an affair early on?” they joked, to which Martha replied, “Yeah, but I don’t think Andy ever knew about that.”
