Martha Stewart confessed to cheating on her ex-husband Andrew Stewart during their marriage.

The homemaking expert, 83, revealed she wasn’t faithful during their 29-year marriage in the bombshell trailer for her upcoming Netflix documentary, Martha.

At one point in the clip, Martha — who was married to Stewart from 1961 until their divorce in 1990 — gave advice to married women who had been cheated on, before a producer called her out for infidelity.

“Young women, listen to my advice: if you’re married and your husband starts cheating on you, he’s a piece of shit. Get out of that marriage,” the television personality said.

“Didn’t you have an affair early on?” the producer joked, to which Martha replied, “Yeah, but I don’t think Andy ever knew about that.”

Martha started dating Andy – who has been her only husband to date – when she was just 19 and he was 23, after they set up a blind date.

At the time he was studying law at Yale. He subsequently entered publishing and is currently publisher emeritus of Fieldstone Publishing, a nature publisher.

The couple was married for nearly three decades after saying “I do” in 1961.

They welcomed one child together, daughter Alexis Stewart, now 59, in 1965.

The couple eventually divorced in 1990.

After her divorce, Martha briefly dated Silence of the Lambs star Anthony Hopkins. She also dated software architect Charles Simonyi for fifteen years, from 1993 to 2008.

In 2023, Martha told E! News that she was single.

After their divorce, Andy married Martha’s former assistant, Robyn Fairclough, who was 21 years his junior. They have since divorced and he remarried again to Shyla Nelson Stewart.

In 2022, Martha called her divorce ‘terrible’ in an interview with People.

“Divorce was a terrible thing for me because we were the first in my family to get divorced,” she said.

‘And the fact that we haven’t spoken to each other since the divorce is even more painful. But I am very strong and I am very motivated to continue with life.’

“I survived the rigors of time, of marriage, of having children, of building a business from scratch. I survived it very well and I think I’m making the best of it.’

Martha’s mother, Martha Kostyra, told the story earlier People that the divorce left her daughter “badly hurt,” adding, “I don’t think she’ll ever get over it.”

The upcoming documentary follows the lifestyle icon all the way from her teenage years, when she worked as a model, until she became the first self-made, female billionaire in the United States, according to the Netflix press release.

The film also “highlights Stewart’s working-class upbringing and forces us to reconsider the scandal that sent her to prison.”

The trailer opens with Martha asking, “How does it feel to be the first female, self-made billionaire in American history?” Her only response is a long laugh.

“I’m strict and demanding and I’m all those good things that make a successful person,” she said in a voiceover.

Elsewhere in the documentary’s trailer, she discusses her time in federal prison.

The star spent five months in jail in 2004 after being found guilty of conspiracy and obstruction of justice, among other charges, in connection with the stock sale.

‘I was a trophy for these idiots. I was dragged to an isolation cell, without food or water. Those prosecutors should have been put in a Cuisinart and put on high alert.”

Martha then described her triumphant return to work.

“The cookie cutter house and the cookie cutter life were not for me,” she said.

‘I could have just been a miserable housewife, but I didn’t let that happen to myself. And I’m so glad I didn’t.’

According to The Daily Beast, Stewart notably labeled the film as “lazy” during the 2024 Retail Influencer CEO Forum in September.

‘I try not to talk publicly about the things I don’t like, [as] it’s not a good thing,” she said at the time, adding, in reference to the doctor, “I feel a little bad about that.”

The star said she felt it was “so unfair” that much of the film focused on her “stupid trial.”

Martha said she “had a collaboration contract” with filmmaker RJ Cutler, saying, “We were going to work together — and then he had to do the final editing.”

The upcoming documentary – which drops on Netflix on October 30 – follows Martha all the way from her teenage years to becoming the first self-made female billionaire in the United States.

She said she wanted changes to be made in the second half of the film, but Cutler “wouldn’t change anything.”

Stewart went on to explain that the second part of the documentary “doesn’t mention all my collaborations.”

‘The fact that they don’t even play a role in this, it’s not fair, I think, in a story about my life. That’s what really made me me,” the star added.

The documentary can be seen on Netflix from October 30.
