Married At First Sight stars Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli walked into a scandalous scene while attending an exclusive event in Sydney on Tuesday night.

The pair spotted two women huddled in a bathroom cubicle at the launch of the Gucci Garden Archetypes exhibit at Ultimo’s Powerhouse Museum.

At first glance, it looked like the ladies were snorting cocaine – a brutal and illegal act that no doubt horrified Sydney’s social elite.

A stunned Martha and Michael stopped to take pictures of the woman’s feet, which were visible under the bathroom door.

While most right-minded people would immediately go to the police, the Bondi couple, who are expecting their first child together, found the scene amusing.

They took selfies for Instagram in front of the bathroom, with Martha showing off her baby bump in a crop top while Michael peered into the cubicle.

While most of their followers assumed the duo caught the women gathering in the bathroom, in reality it was just part of the exhibit.

Far from being a candid moment, the figures behind the stall wearing Gucci shoes were mere actors.

In fact, the entire retro-themed bathroom was an elaborate piece of art that also featured two mannequins in head-to-toe Gucci.

In September, Martha gave a candid insight into how her battle with acute morning sickness had affected her pregnancy.

She said The Daily Telegraph that the diagnosis of hyperemesis gravidarum changed everything, and that her symptoms had manifested themselves in many painful ways.

“It’s like having gastro, hungover, and being on a boat.” This is anything but fun,” she said.

She explained that she was only diagnosed a month into her pregnancy, forcing her and Michael to cut short their European vacation.

“I was stuck abroad, severely dehydrated and had to drink regularly,” she said.

Michael echoed her feelings, admitting “it was hard watching her go from enjoying this amazing trip abroad to being bedridden 24 hours a day.”

The couple announced in September that they were expecting their first child together.
